  • Publication number: 20140245866
Abstract: The present invention provides devices for disinfecting, sanitizing, etc., one or more writing implements using high energy source(s) or lamp(s), such as ultraviolet (UV) lamp(s), to irradiate the writing implement(s) placed within the device. The writing implement(s) may be placed inside an inner chamber surrounded by two or more portions of the device, the inner chamber receiving the writing implement(s) through a top opening and releasing or ejecting the writing implement(s) through a bottom opening. A holding mechanism present inside the device may hold the writing implement(s) until their release, such as in response to an input via a sensor and/or after a predetermined period of time. A device may instead have a receiving area or cavity that is irradiated by a high energy source(s) or lamp(s), which may be enclosed by a lid or cover. Writing implements having one or more separating fins, etc., are further provided.

  • Patent number: 8405643
Abstract: A stylus comprises a housing, a stylus body, a latching element and a shell. The housing has a receptacle defined therethrough. The stylus body is accommodated in the receptacle and located at one end of the housing. The stylus body has two opposite arms located at one end thereof, each arm has a protrusion protruding therefrom. The latching element is mounted in the receptacle and is located at another end of the housing opposite to the stylus body. The latching element has two opposite latching cantilever and each cantilever having a rib protruding therefrom. The shell is slidably accommodated in the receptacle and has two opposite latching slots defined therein. The latching slots latch with the protrusions to hold the stylus in a retracted state, and the latching slots latch with the ribs to hold the stylus in an extended state.

  • Patent number: 8373682
Abstract: A stylus comprises a housing, a stylus body and a shaft. The housing has a receptacle defined therethrough. The stylus body assembly is slidably and non-rotatably accommodated in the receptacle of the housing, the stylus body assembly includes a threaded hole defined therethrough. The shaft rotatably passes through the housing, the shaft includes a threaded portion engaging with the threaded hole such that rotation of the shaft relative to the housing causes the stylus body assembly to slide relative to the housing to extend out or retract into the housing.

  • Patent number: 7412914
Abstract: A writing device for imprinting Braille characters on an underlined sheet of paper includes an outer barrel and a spring biased receptacle stylus together with a spring biased activating member at an opposite end of the barrel. The stylus includes a rear portion and a forward portion of reduced diameter and a point. A forward member is threadedly attached to the barrel and includes a rearward facing shoulder. A first spring is disposed around the forward portion of the stylus, against a shoulder formed by the reduced diameter of the forward portion and the rearward facing shoulder on the forward member. A second spring is disposed at a opposite end of the barrel between a forward facing shoulder on the activating member and a base portion of the barrel for moving the stylus out of said barrel to form a portion of a Braille character.

  • Patent number: 6710267
Abstract: An input pen for a touch panel excellent in a using feeling without causing any flaw in a display, and an input pen. A touch ball made of, for example, an acetal resin is provided at a pen tip of an input pen. The touch ball is held via a first spring and a second spring. Furthermore, respective spring constants of the first spring and the second spring are set in such a manner as to establish the relationship of (a displacement of the first spring)>(a displacement of the second spring)>(a deformation of the touch ball) when pressing force for pressing the touch ball toward a main body shaft acts. Thus, it is possible to suppress any deformation of the soft touch ball even if the input pen is strongly pressed against a screen of a touch panel or the like.
