  • Patent number: 9126268
Abstract: A lathe tool that works in conjunction with a HUNTER lathe to engage a rotating an inner frictional surface of a flywheel on its axis to perform various symmetrical operations about an axis of rotation such as cutting and facing with a cutting tool. The components of the lathe tool position to one side of the flywheel to allow sufficient clearance for engaging a large flywheel across the full diameter of the flywheel, and also provide adjustment mechanisms for enhanced precision. A lathe mount extends perpendicularly from the Hunter lathe terminating at a lathe mount aperture. A tool mount passes through the lathe mount aperture terminating at a cutting tool notch, where the cutting tool attaches. A bracket passes through the tool mount and includes an adjustable screw that extends towards the Hunter lathe, rotating to draw the lathe tool to and from the flywheel.

The front portion of said forming head is provided with an annual recessed surface having the same diameter of a paper roll to be machined. The forming head further comprises a plurality of radial holes disposed equiangularly around the peripheral of the forming head. The radial holes are communicated with the annular recessed surface. Each of the radial holes is received and disposed with a pressing tool which comprises an end portion, a cutout, a pressing surface, an aligning cutting slot and a contacting end. The pressing tool can be readily adjusted within the radial hole such that the contacting end of the pressing face can be raised to a level which is higher than the annular recessed surface. A locking element is provided and disposed within said radial hole such that the pressing tool can be locked up when the pressing tool is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6105476
Abstract: A toolholder apparatus includes a head, a cutting tool mounting fixture attached to the head for holding the cutting tool, and a floating roller assembly pivotally mounted relative to the head. These components are arranged and constructed so that during the cutting of a workpiece with the cutting tool the floating roller assembly can pivot about a pivotal axis relative to the head to allow the floating roller assembly to align with the workpiece. A mechanism is also provided for accomplishing the initial adjustment of alignment of the cutting tool with the rotating workpiece. This mechanism includes a cylindrical shaft extending from the head, and having an eccentric cam follower lug extending transversely from the shaft. A mounting block has a cylindrical bore disposed therethrough, and the shaft is received through the bore of the mounting block. A cam piece is slideably disposed within the mounting block to rotate the shaft as the cam piece slides relative to the mounting block.

  • Patent number: 6082236
Abstract: An adaptor is inserted between a cutting tool and a clamping section of a tool machine. The adaptor comprises a tool clamping part holding the tool, and an adaptor clamping part which is held by the machine. Between the two parts there is a bearing which controls the relative movement between the two parts in such a manner that this movements does not influence machined geometry, dimension or surface of the work piece machined by the tool, to any significant degree, and an elastic damping member which ensures that a possible relative movement between two parts is damped down to a desired degree. Possible vibrations in the tool are thereby kept down on a level where they do not contribute to amplify the normal sound pressure from the machining operation, and an efficient noise suppression is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6083146
Abstract: A plastic tool pocket mounts to tool storage chain in a machining center. The tools all have a hollow, tapered tool shank, which fits into tool pocket. The hollow tool shank has an internal relief and retention groove for securing the tool shank with a machine spindle. The tool pocket has central support shaft, having a circular spring ring loosely fitted into an annular clearance groove. When the tool shank slides over the support shaft, the circular ring first deflects radially into the clearance groove, then pops out into the retention groove, to hold the tool shank in position.

  • Patent number: 6082234
Abstract: An adjustable toolholder apparatus includes a base plate having a planar supporting surface. A holder body includes a bottom planar supported surface which slideably engages and rests upon the supporting surface of the base plate. A linear position adjuster provides a linear sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. An angular position adjuster provides a rotational sliding motion of the holder body upon the base plate. The holder body has a wedge shaped recess within which is received a wedge shaped carrier block. A vertically adjustable column supports the wedge shaped carrier block from the base plate to adjust a height of the cutting tool. After linear and angular adjustment of the cutting tool relative to the base plate, the wedge shaped carrier block is clamped to the holder body, and the holder body and base plate are clamped to a cross slide to fix the cutting tool in its final desired position.

  • Patent number: 5960688
Abstract: A box turning tool for a Greenlee automatic screw machine with a conventional endworking attachment uses a conventional indexable carbide insert to produce proper cutting action on a workpiece. The box turning tool has a shank clamped in the endworking attachment. The shank has an insert seat that lies in a transverse plane that makes an angle of approximately 83 degrees with a central longitudinal plane defined by the shank. The indexable carbide insert cutting edge is mounted to the shank insert seat such that a cutting edge is inherently parallel to a horizontal plane passing through the longitudinal axis of the automatic screw machine spindle and the workpiece. The shank is adjusted in the endworking attachment to bring the carbide insert cutting edge into coincidence with the horizontal plane through the automatic screw machine longitudinal axis. The shank can be formed to locate the carbide insert such that the cutting tip thereof leads or trails the cutting edge.

The body block also forms a pair of expander receptacles each receiving a dove tail expander element in movable assembly therewith. A rotary actuator located within an actuator receptacle defined by the body block forms oppositely directed intersecting eccentric cam surfaces that are disposed for driving engagement with respective dove tail expander elements depending upon the direction of rotation of the actuator element. The dove tail expander elements are selectively linearly movable to establish tight locking engagement within the dove tail receptacles of tool holders and are retractable to release the tool holders for replacement or repositioning. • Patent number: 5167176
Abstract: A tool for use with a tool holder has a body to which at least one blade such as a circular saw blade or milling cutter is clamped to prevent the blade from turning when a selected tooth is brought into cutting or grooving contact with a rotating work piece, the blade is of a type having its teeth so spaced and arranged that each tooth is spaced 90.degree. from another tooth. The body of the tool has first and second parallel clamping surfaces through which a straight slot opens. A first or front clamping member has a hub on which a blade is rotatably mounted and which fits the slot and is held thereby against turning. The two clamping members are connected by a threaded member by which the clamping members are drawn towards each other to clamp the blade against the first clamping surface. The slot is disposed and dimensioned so that, in use, it is normal to the axis of the work piece with one end above and the other end below that axis.
