Translatable Work Support Carriage Patents (Class 82/90)
  • Patent number: 5857391
Abstract: Device for cutting a protective layer away from a material roll of web-formed material, comprising a rotation device which rotates the roll. The rotation device includes at least two rotatable carrier rollers, on which the material roll is supported and is rotated. In this way the protective layer on the material roll is cut away from the roll during a cutting operation by a cutting tool device. This contacts the roll during its rotation. The rotatable carrier rollers form lifting and carrying devices on a mobile load carrier in order to support the material roll whilst rotating it during the cutting operation and in order to transport the material roll to and, respectively, from a chosen place for the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4538489
Abstract: The top seal parts of bottle-like containers made by blow-molding a flexible synthetic resin are cut off by nonrotatably supporting each container, pressing from one side a cutting edge of a cutter against a specific cutting line on the top part of the container, and rotating the cutter around the top part thereby to cut off the top seal part. This process can be carried out by an apparatus comprising a plurality of combinations of mechanisms, each combination comprising a fixing device for nonrotatably and fixedly supporting a container, a cutting head which can be fitted onto the top seal part of this container and can be driven in ascending, descending, and rotating movement, and cutting head drive.

  • Patent number: 4475527
Abstract: An improvement in a method for simultaneously slicing one or a multiplicity of boules of silicon into silicon wafers, the improvement of which comprises forming a plurality of vertical stacks of horizontal saw blades of circular configuration arranged in juxtaposed coaxial alignment, each blade being characterized by having a cutting diameter slightly greater than the cutting diameter of the blade arranged immediately thereabove; imparting simultaneous rotation to the blades, supporting in depending relation a plurality of enlongated boules of silicon, simultaneously translating the boules through the blades, and simultaneously imparting rotation to the boules as the boules are passed through said blades for slicing wafers therefrom; and an improved apparatus for performing said method.

  • Patent number: 4347770
Abstract: An apparatus for radially cutting cylindrical material including three rollers mounted with a first frame which is pivotable about an axis of one of the rollers with respect to a second frame which carries a saw arbor. One of the rollers is driven in rotation by a motor, and is geared to the saw arbor to drive the saw blades in rotation. A second roller is movable with respect to the first frame and the first roller, and a third roller is mounted on a hydraulic cylinder to clamp the three rollers against the exterior surface of a cylindrical material. Axial grooves are located on the drive roller to facilitate driving of the material, and circumferential grooves are provided on one of the other rollers to prevent axial displacement of the material subsequent to clamping. A ball screw unit pivots the first frame with respect to the second frame to cause the saw blades to engage the material and make radial cuts into the material. A process for radially cutting cylindrical material is also disclosed herein.

  • Patent number: 4269091
Abstract: A machine for automatically cutting and dividing of cylindrical sleeves guided and supported on a drawoff spindle by means of a plurality of coaxially arranged rotary knives. The machine includes a transport arrangement for transporting an uncut sleeve onto the drawoff spindle where it is cut by the rotary knives and then transporting the now-divided sleeve onto an adjustable carrier sled which is transversely movably mounted relative to the axis of the drawoff spindle. The transport arrangement includes a pair of end pressure members which are movable toward and away from each other and which are adapted to grip the cut and uncut sleeve therebetween. The carrier sled includes a pair of adjustable parallel sleeve-receiving troughs which are adapted to be reciprocally mounted between precisely-defined relative positions with respect to the carrier sled and a rotary knife-supporting beam.

  • Patent number: 4130036
Abstract: The apparatus includes a cradle for holding long tubes desired to be cut into individual tubes of shorter length. The cradle is generally cylindrical and mounted for rotation about its axis. Tubes are mounted in the cradle at a loading position, and a controller actuates a motor for driving the cradle inrotation to a cutting position. A plurality of saws are mounted on a shaft extending parallel with the axis of the cradle and rotating at high cutting speed. When the cradle is revolved to bring the tube to the cutting station, the tube is engaged by a surface belt drive to spin the tube in the cradle for cutting. In the case of tubes having greater wall thickness, the cradle is stopped momentarily just as the tubes are brought into cutting relation with the saws so that a partial peripheral cut is made while the cradle is stopped. The cradle is then continued to be rotated to complete the cut and to bring the cut tubes back to the original position at high speed.
