Patent number: 9107424Abstract: An input conveyor, output conveyor, and knife assembly with a blade between the input and output conveyors all reciprocate back and forth as a blade moves perpendicular to the conveyors to cut portioned sized of product, such as ground meat. The cut cycle allows the product feed to keep moving in a continuous manner on conveyors. For ground meat, this system can allow production rates of 150 pieces or more per minute per conveyor line and can improve the accuracy of portioning. The blade is actuated by a profiled cam set that pulls the blade down, and then returns it with a spring to an upper position. The knife assembly can accelerate just after cutting to reduce the potential for sticking to the cut product.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2012Date of Patent: August 18, 2015Assignee: RISCO USA CORPORATIONInventor: Alan G. Patent number: 5241744Abstract: An apparatus is described for individually inserting successive components of a series of components having mounting legs by movement of the components along an insertion direction to introduce the mounting legs into holes in a substrate at an insertion station. The apparatus includes a guide for guiding a strip of components along a feedpath generally normal to the insertion direction with the mounting legs oriented in the direction of the substrate surface. The strip is advanced stepwise after each insertion operation to position the next successive components of the strip at the insertion station. The carrier web between a components to be inserted and the next successive upstream component is centered relative to a web shearing line, a first cutting element at the insertion station being arranged for abutment against a carrier edge or line proximate to the mounting legs for preventing movement of that portion of the carrier web upstream of the shearing line in the insertion direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1992Date of Patent: September 7, 1993Assignee: Zierick Manufacturing CorporationInventors: Janos Legrady, Hal Wylie, Greg Torigian, Jim Dicaprio

Patent number: 4966060Abstract: Very high speed flying shears (10) which is suitable to shear rolled stock (18) travelling even at more than 100 meters per second and comprises two knives (14) with blades (17) able to contrarotate in relation to each other at a preset speed at least in the transient period of shearing and is equipped with a guide (11) able to move sideways (19-119) at a pre-set speed (V) and to position itself in a defined position in relation to the circumferential position of the blades (17), an inner dividing wall (27) being located downstream of the knives (14) in a conveyor channel (13), in which shears (10) during the transient period of shearing;the speeds (VR) of lateral movement of the guide (11) and of rotation of the knives (14) are correlated, andthe lateral position of the guide (11) and the cirmcumferential position of the blades (17) of the knives (14) are strictly interdependent.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1988Date of Patent: October 30, 1990Assignee: Danieli & C. Patent number: 4919027Abstract: An apparatus for diverting and delivering sheets in which the sheets are positively controlled throughout the entire operation. Initially, a continuous web of paper passes between opposing cylinders comprising a rotary cutter. The lead edge of the web is then engaged by a pair of opposed nip rollers. Once held by these nip rollers, the rotary knife cuts a separate sheet from the front of the continuous web. The separate sheet then passes between and is accelerated by the nip rollers whereupon a dual set of diverting cams, in combination with a pair of conveyors, directs the sheet to one of two delivery systems. The next subsequent sheet is directed to the other delivery system so that each successive sheet is alternately diverted between the two delivery systems. Upon exiting either delivery system, the sheet is subjected to a snubbing means which decelerates the sheet and further allows the next subsequent sheet to overlap the previous sheet before being similarly decelerated.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1987Date of Patent: April 24, 1990Assignee: Littleton Industrial Consultants, Inc.Inventor: Francis J. Patent number: 4846030Abstract: This application discloses removing scrap trimmed from a moving web with a series of pins mounted upon a disc which brings the pins into an impaling engagement in the scrap. The movement of the pins into such engagement is carefully synchronized between the cutting roller and the pins. The scrap is removed from the pins by causing it to be grasped between an abutment on one side and a nip roller on the other side and pulled from the pins at the same time as the pins are being withdrawn.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1987Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: Baldwin Technology CorporationInventors: Raymond McMahon, John C.
