  • Publication number: 20140123823
Abstract: A slicing apparatus and method suitable for reliably slicing elongated food products along a longitudinal axis thereof. The apparatus includes a slicing wheel mounted for rotation about a roughly horizontal axis, a first delivery structure adapted to deliver food product to the slicing wheel, and a moving delivery device adapted to press the food product against the first delivery structure and propel the food product in a delivery direction along a length of the first delivery structure to the slicing wheel. The slicing wheel produces a slice cut in the food product parallel to the delivery direction in which the food product is delivered to the slicing wheel.

  • Patent number: 6397714
Abstract: The cutting cylinder of a rotary cutting machine has at least one radial needle for retaining waste projecting radially from its surface. A waste ejector has a rectilinear part parallel to the generatrix of the said cylinder and traversed by at least one slot coinciding with the trajectory of said radial needle for the passage thereof. A support has a first part secured to the frame of the rotary cutting machine, a second part secured to said ejector and connected to the first part by a guide defining a transverse trajectory relative to the edge of said ejector and intersecting said cylinder. An adjustment device moves the said second part along the transverse trajectory and an elastic connection exerts a prestressing of the second part on the adjustment device.

  • Patent number: 5860343
Abstract: A slicing machine for foods includes a circular knife with a peripheral cutting edge mounted rotatingly in a substantially vertical position on a machine housing. The knife defines a substantially vertical cutting plane. A knife protection ring is secured to the machine housing and surrounds a substantial portion of the cutting edge. A carriage for receiving a product to be cut is mounted on the housing on one side of the cutting plane for reciprocating movement in a direction parallel to the cutting plane. A scraper is arranged on an opposite side of the cutting plane to cover part of a face of the circular knife. The scraper is mounted pivotably about a pivot axis defined by a pivot bearing so as to be pivotable from an operating position to a cleaning position. The pivot axis is arranged above the center of the circular knife essentially horizontal and parallel to the cutting plane.

  • Patent number: 5640897
Abstract: This machine is a compound cutting and shearing device which is capable of removing slices of sausage meat from a bulk sausage stored in the machine and delivering the sliced sausage to a precise location on a food product located adjacent the machine. Simultaneously, the machine has a shearing device which shears a finger of cheese from a bulk slab of cheese stored in the machine and delivers the sheared finger of cheese to a precise location on the previously delivered sliced sausage meat.

  • Patent number: 5303623
Abstract: The common base of the comb-shaped clearing device is made of a shaft. Screws are provided for blocking pairs of parallel arms on a shaft in variable positions as a function of a longitudinal position of a series of points on the cutting cylinder (2). The two arms of each pair, which are symmetrical with respect to a symmetry vertical plane, have inner faces turned toward one another and formed in such a manner as to define therebetween an interval having a width which increases from front to rear.

  • Patent number: 5129299
Abstract: A machine for cutting slabs of fresh or frozen tempered meat into diced sections and defined by a conveyor assembly comprised of a feed belt and an associated spring-biased feed roll, a strip cutting assembly comprised of a first knife roll of circular knives and an associated feed drum, and a crosscut assembly comprised of a second knife roll of elongate knives and an associated stripper plate provided with a corresponding shear edge, with edge portions of the circular knives being intermested within slots formed in the stripper plate and peripheral grooves formed in both the feed roll and feed drum. The feed drum is configured to retard the movement of fresh meat slabs being conveyed through the strip cutting assembly during which the circular knives are rotated at a peripheral speed that is at least twice the peripheral speed of the feed drum.

  • Patent number: 4913017
Abstract: A meat cutting device comprising a feeding chute defining for the meat a path inclined towards a blade assembly, the blade assembly being formed by a plurality of disc-like cutting blades; whereby the meat piece to be cut passes automatically through the cutting blades due to the combined effect of the inclined path and the cutting blades.

  • Patent number: 4725261
Abstract: Apparatus and method for cutting an end portion of a carton blank, e.g. to form a stitch flap, employs a rotatably driven male cutting head cooperating with a rotatably driven female cutting head. The female cutting head has a peripheral cutting groove therein and an anvil surface adjacent one side of the groove. The male cutting head has a two edged slot cutting blade of predetermined arcuate length which enters the groove each revolution, and a knife which extends transversely away from the blade and engages the anvil surface each revolution. The blade has a scallop-like cut-out in the side adjacent the anvil surface. The cut-out modifies the blade to a single edged cutting blade for a small part of its length. Scrap portions produced from the carton blank by a slotting cut of the blade and a transverse cut of the knife are integrally connected together by a bridging piece enabled by this cut-out.

  • Patent number: 4329893
Abstract: Trim strip in a web slitter having upper and lower rotary slitting means cooperating at a severance point for trimming a strip from the edge portion of a travelling web is engaged on a cylindrical rotary trim biasing and guiding surface associated with the lower slitting means. The trim strip is retained in wrapping engagement on the rotary surface by pressure differential and thereby positively transported away from the severance point into a chute. At a point spaced from the severance point the trim strip is stripped from the rotary surface for onward movement in the chute.

  • Patent number: 4112834
Abstract: An improved apparatus is provided for depositing pepperoni slices which may have a relatively high fat content and grated cheese on a series of pizza pie shells made of pastry. The apparatus includes a main conveyor which is continuously operated to sequentially move pizze pie shells along a path extending through a food processing station. A carriage at the food processing station moves a stick of pepperoni relative to a rotating blade to slice pieces of pepperoni from the stick. A secondary conveyor receives the slices of pepperoni and positively moves the slices of pepperoni toward a pastry shell being moved by the main conveyor. The secondary conveyor includes surfaces which apply forces to opposite sides of the pepperoni slices to grip the slices and positively move them toward the main conveyor. At another food processing station, a body of cheese is sliced into elongated pieces by a grater. A second cutter severs the elongated pieces of cheese into relatively short lengths.
