  • Patent number: 5913957
Abstract: An apparatus for slitting baghouse filters from baghouse cages comprising a generally tubular cutting chamber having an inlet, an outlet and a plurality of angularly disposed conduits. A water knife for cutting the filtration bags, within the chamber, as the bags longitudinally pass therethrough is disposed in at least one of the conduits. The size and angle of the water knife is varied according to the material comprising the filter bag. The water knife can use any fluid but water is preferable. The water and tubular chamber act to suppress dispersion of material captured in the bag. The water contaminated with material carried by the bag can be directed to a proper disposal or collection area.

  • Patent number: 5216961
Abstract: A hand-held, manually operated book index notch cutter is placed in the book to be notched. The notch cutter has a cylindrical cutting member (405) which moves parallel to and rotates around its axis. The axis of the cylinder is perpendicular to the book leaves being notched. The cutting member rotates and advances within a cutter guide (200), which is attached to a thin baseplate (100). The upper surface of the baseplate is a resilient platen (102) on which rests the stack of book leaves to be cut. These leaves are adjusted in fan and lateral angle with the help of a leaf guide (300), which is movable to allow a range of notch depths. The cutting member is attached to a knob (401) which is pressed and turned. Inside this cutting member-knob assembly is a spring-loaded ejector assembly (500). After a notch is cut, the ejector button (501) is pressed, capturing the paper cuttings and raising the cutting member to the ready position.

  • Patent number: 4589314
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting motion picture film negatives. The improvements in the present invention film cutting apparatus enable the film cutter to cut the motion picture film negative with a precise, even, clean cut at a location mid-way between adjacent frames of film footage. This is necessary when using a new technique of negative cutting and splicing that allows no frame loss and still maintains all of the requirements of professional (state of the art) motion picture film processing. This has never before been done. The improvements include individual film seating plates which press the lengths of motion picture film to be cut against individual film support and ejection plates to assure that the lengths of film are securely held prior to and during the cutting operation. The present invention also provides safety features to assure that the operator will not accidentally cut himself during the operation.

  • Patent number: 4038124
Abstract: A microfiche having one or more frames to be deleted is mounted in accurate registration and alignment on a microfiche deck, and a light is energized in the deck underneath each frame of the microfiche to be deleted. The operator then moves a knife carriage mounted on an "X-Y" detented slide system and having a solenoid-operated knife blade, on top of the microfiche, to the proper position with respect to each frame to be deleted, and then energizes the solenoid to cut that frame from an adjacent frame on the same filmstrip. After each edge of the frame is cut, the operator uses a spatula to pry up an end of the frame which is then grasped and stripped off of the microfiche. After all of the unwanted frames are deleted, the microfiche is removed from the deck.

  • Patent number: 4014232
Abstract: A partition slotting machine having a punch and die assembly built as a unit to be separable from the machine for repair, replacement and adjustment of punch, die and operating parts away from the machine, so that the machine may continue operating by installation of a substituted pre-assembled punch and die unit during such servicing. The separable unit includes the die bed with dies adjustably positionable thereacross, a press head movably connected to the die bed and containing punches adjustable positioned thereacross to mate with the dies, and parts of a press head moving mechanism involved in adjusting the position of the press head relative to a drive shaft on the machine which drive shaft is coordinated with other machine functions.
