  • Patent number: 11434102
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing sheet or web material from a roll employs an at least partially hollow cutting tube that rotates against a cull roll. The cutting tube has a slot along some of the length of the tube and carries a blade that is extendable from the slot. As the slot positions against the cull roll, the blade is extended and translated along the length of the slot to cut the material away from the roll.

  • Patent number: 8534172
Abstract: Apparatus and method for translating articles. The apparatus has a rectangular work area defined by the upper run of a positioning conveyor having an oblique-roller conveyor belt selectively driven forward or reverse in coordination with the actuation and deactuation of the obliquely rotatable belt rollers. Tools, such as cutting tools or inspection stools, along the sides of the work area interact with the sides of the articles as they are translated without rotation in a rectangular path against guide surfaces on the periphery of the work area by the sequential reversing of the conveyor belt direction and the actuation and deactuation of the article-supporting rollers.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for cutting boxes. The box cutter has a rectangular work area defined by the upper run of an oblique-roller conveyor belt selectively driven forward or reverse in coordination with the actuation and deactuation of the obliquely rotatable belt rollers. Cutting tools along the sides of the work area cut into the side panels of the boxes as they are translated without rotation in a rectangular path against guide surfaces on the periphery of the work area by the sequential reversing of the conveyor belt direction and the actuation and deactuation of the box-supporting rollers.

  • Patent number: 5937717
Abstract: A device for feeding and discharging a work in an automatic hollow-pipe cutting apparatus comprises: a cutter device for cutting a hollow pipe; a cam lever driving mechanism for sending the hollow pipe to the cutter device; a fixed chuck device disposed near the cutter device; a movable chuck device disposed away from the cutter device; a movable die core disposed inside the cutter device and inside the hollow pipe; another cam lever driving mechanism for moving the movable chuck device; a stopper and ejector fitted to the fixed die core; whereby when the hollow pipe is fed to the cutter device, the fixed chuck device grasps and release the hollow pipe and the movable chuck device also grasps and release the hollow pipe but at timing different from grasping and releasing by the fixed chuck means and the feeding of the hollow pipe into the cutter device is performed by movement of the movable chuck device by means of the other cam lever driving mechanism, and after the hollow pipe is cut, during lowering of a

  • Patent number: 5279195
Abstract: An apparatus for continuously transporting, separating, and changing the path of webs in machines for processing webs prior to further processing are disclosed. A web consisting of at least one ribbon of material is conveyed by a pair of nip rollers arranged in a first transport path. When it is desired to separate and convey the web, for example when the web is of insufficient quality, a separating flap pivotally mounted on a first rotary axis located above the first transport path pivots downward cutting and directing the web to a second transport path. A blade flap pivotally mounted on a second rotary axis located below the first transport path opens and closes the transport path to the web. When the blade flap is in the closed position it bridges a gap between a lower guide and a guide section to allow the conveyance of a web through the first transport path.

  • Patent number: 5049179
Abstract: A glass gob cutting device in a gob feeder for cutting a gob of molten glass supplied from an orifice of a furnace and supplying the cut gob of molten glass to a glass forming machine. The glass gob cutting device includes a pair of shearing blades for cutting a gob of molten glass to make the cut gob of molten glass, a pair of supporting arms for supporting the pair of shearing blades, a shearing mechanism connected to the supporting arms for actuating the supporting arms, a guide arm being actuated by actuating means different from the shearing mechanism and a guide provided on a free end of the guide arm for guiding the cut gob of molten glass and introducing the same into the glass forming machine.

  • Patent number: 4919028
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shearing machine in which the upper shearing blade can be easily adjusted and positioned. The upper blade is held on a pivotal plate member which is pivotally held on a ram by means of a hinge means to be rotated to adjust of the position of the upper blades. In addition, a hold down member is provided for holding a work-sheet. The hold down member is arranged to be urged by a toggle joint to hold the work-sheet at a reduced speed with an increased force after coming into contact with the work-sheet. A scrap removal member is also included in the shearing machine such that scraps can be easily removed without mingling them with the finished sheets. The scrap removal member removes scrap without idle time between feeding the work-sheets to be sheared. The shearing machine is so arranged that scraps are taken away directly to a scrap box as soon as the work-sheet has been completely sheared into its finished product.

  • Patent number: 3943846
Abstract: In one exemplar embodiment, an apparatus for impressing identifying characters into the end face of metal bar stock is disclosed. A stamping apparatus operates in conjunction with conventional bar stock drawing and cutting machines. The stamping apparatus has a die positioning member adapted for pivotal movement carrying a character imprinting die that is extended and locked in the path of the moving bar stock. The force of the bar stock moving against the die imprints the identifying characters in the end face of the bar stock. Just prior to cutting of the bolt blank from the bar stock the cutting machine signals the bolt stamping apparatus and the die positioning member begins to pivot and retract into the apparatus housing thereby relieving the pressure between the end face of the bar stock and the die. The die positioning member continues to pivot into the housing as the cutting machine cuts the bolt blank from the bar stock and allows the bolt blank to fall free for collection.
