Abstract: The method and devices are particularly adapted to dispense portions of a chain having relatively diametrically enlarged segments therein, such as master links, which are disposed at substantially regularly spaced intervals along the length of the chain, although the intervals may not and in fact need not be uniformly spaced. According to the method, the chain is supported so that it is movable relatively lengthwise thereof through the opening in a collar which is capable of being opened and closed about the chain, and the opening of which has a diameter of less than that of the relatively enlarged segments of the chain in the closed condition of the collar. When the collar is open, the chain is advanced lengthwise in the direction of the collar to the extent that a portion of the chain including one relatively enlarged segment therein, is fed through the opening in the collar and assumes a position on the opposite side thereof.

  • Patent number: 4030390
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting items, such as individual photographs, from a printed sheet comprising a sliding tray having a lower die to support the sheet and adapted to be moved into a housing containing an upper die. The lower die includes a series of male die members corresponding in shape to the individual photographs and the marginal area bordering the die members is spring loaded and biased to an upper position. The upper die has a series of recesses or female die members corresponding in shape to the male die members of the lower die. As the upper die is moved downwardly, the individual photographs are severed from the sheet by the shearing action of the cooperating die members.

  • Patent number: 4027965
Abstract: A control mechanism for use in a photoelectrostatic copying machine utilizing a roll of recording medium as a source of material on which an image of the original to be copied is reproduced, which control mechanism controls the sequence of operation of various operating elements of the copying machine. The control mechanism for this purpose utilizes a rotatable cam assembly which, during rotation thereof through first and second predetermined angles, actuates first and second microswitches, respectively, which are electrically coupled to the feeder mechanism, illumination device and electrostatic charger and the drive unit for moving a transparent support structure for support of the original to be copied thereon. A third microswitch electrically coupled to the cutter unit may be actuated by either the cam assemby or an operating member adjustably carried by either of the transparent support structure and illumination device.

  • Patent number: 3998118
Abstract: A roll fed copier is provided with mechanism responsive to depression of a copy button to start or turn on power to the machine and thereby initiate the feed of copy paper from a supply roll and to cock a sprng-powered knife which is tripped by linkage operated by an adjustable copy length control on the movable original carrying platen. Additional mechanism is also provided to break the power lines to the machines if the copy button is not actuated for a predetermined interval.

  • Patent number: 3951023
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding a continuous web of photosensitive paper into a reprographic machine so that the leading edges of the paper and a transparent master sheet to be copied are coincident as they enter exposure and developing stations, and to ensure that the tail end of the paper is cut, during continuous forward movement of the leading edge, so that the trailing edge of the severed paper coincides with the tail end of the master sheet. The feed path of the paper includes a curved portion defined by an arcuate-section guide and a concentrically mounted roller. A loop of paper is formed by moving the roller out of the guide and the rear end of the paper is then held stationary and cut by a guillotine while the paper forming the loop is continuously fed forward. The timing of the feeding and cutting operations on the paper is controlled by micro-switches actuated by the leading and trailing ends of the master sheet.
