  • Patent number: 8201429
Abstract: A blanking line including an uncoiler, a first feeder, a slitter, and a shear. A coil of metal is carried by the uncoiler. The first feeder removes the material from the coil and typically includes a leveler for leveling the metal. The metal is fed from the leveler into a looping pit that is located between the leveler and slitter. The slitter feeds and slits the material a predetermined distance and is driven with servo motors. The looping pit acts as an accumulator allowing the metal to hang so the slitter can move metal intermittently into a shear while the leveler runs at a constant rate. The shear cuts the material to a predetermined length corresponding with the distance that the material is fed by the slitter. A measuring wheel may be included to measure the distance that the material is moved by the slitter.

  • Patent number: 8191452
Abstract: A punching tool for green sheets or similar sheet-like work-pieces having a support plate with punched holes (7), and a holding-down plate disposed above the support plate and containing stripper openings (24). Operative portions (23) of dies (8) extend through the stripper openings (24) and are guided therein. The operative portions (23) are formed in graduated form with a punching portion (26) of reduced diameter. Each punching portion (26) has a length that is less than the length of the stripper opening (24), and is located entirely in the stripper opening (24) when the die (8) is at its top dead center. A part (25) of the operative portion (23) protrudes into the stripper opening (24) to guide the die (8). The punching portion (26) is only approximately as long as required for the punching stroke of the die (8). The slight length of the punching portion (26) makes possible an especially slender punching portion, and thus the creation of especially small punched holes.

Abstract: Trimming apparatus for books and similar materials are detailed. Dynamic variability of the apparatus allows sizes of successive materials to differ in two dimensions—both from spine to face and from head to foot. The result is a processing system with substantially greater utility than presently available, as the system may process respective materials of multiple different sizes without stopping the apparatus to adjust positions of the cutting implements.

  • Patent number: 6766721
Abstract: A bale processor for cutting or dicing a bale or slab of unvulcanized rubber produces small cubes or blocks of a predetermined size and uniform shape for continuous feeding at a predetermined rate into a mixing machine or blender. A bale or slab of feedstock rubber is advanced incrementally along a slider platform and a segment is sliced from the leading end of the bale. After separation, the segment falls onto a receiving panel from which it is transferred by a vacuum pick-up head to a vacuum hold-down table. Multiple slices are then formed through the segment along the X-axis by circular cutting blades of an X-axis cutter head, thereby forming elongated segment strips. Next, multiple slices are formed through the segment strips in the Y-direction by a Y-axis cutter head which includes circular cutter blades that are extendable and retractable along the Y-axis.

Abstract: In a device for cutting single blister packs from a blister band, a cutting member acts in a longitudinal direction with respect to the blister band, along the longitudinal edges thereof, so as to cut side extending strips of the blister band which extend beyond the length of the blister pack being produced. Cut out elements operate in alignment with a cutting line of the cutting member to cut shaped pieces of the blister band, so as to define corner zones of the blister packs. Shearing means operate crosswise to the blister band, in alignment with the corner zones defined by the cut out means, to separate single blister packs. The position of the cutting means and cut out means and/or the shearing means can be adjusted to produce blister packs having different sizes.
