Abstract: A cutting assembly for cutting an extruded edible material includes an extrusion assembly having a food extrusion port that extrudes an edible material in an extrusion direction. A cutter frame having a cutting edge is positioned proximate the food extrusion port. The cutting edge moves through a cutting region proximate the extrusion port in a cutting motion. First and second servo motors are operably coupled to the cutter frame, wherein the first servo motor operates the cutting edge to define a first component of the cutting motion perpendicular to the extrusion direction. The second servo motor operates the cutting edge to define a second component of the cutting motion generally parallel with the extrusion direction. The first and second servo motors combine the first and second components to define a cutting path and a return path of the cutting edge through the cutting region.

Abstract: Methods for producing workpieces from a plate-shaped material by a severing process on a machine tool having a workpiece support comprising first and second support surfaces that can be arranged relative to each other to define a cutting gap positioned below a processing area of the machine. Cuts for waste parts and/or parts of a skeleton are made in the plate-shaped material in order to produce the at least one workpiece, such that at least one last severing cut for the one or more workpieces for completely separating the one or more workpieces from the plate-shaped material remains. The waste parts and/or parts of a skeleton are removed through the cutting gap, and then the one or more workpieces are cut free from the plate-shaped material as a last severing cut in such a way that a movement of a cut workpiece over the cutting gap again is omitted.

Abstract: A banding device includes a frame. A feeding assembly is mounted on the frame for feeding elastic tubing into the frame. A transfer assembly disposed within the frame includes transfer arm and fingers. The fingers receive the rubber tubing as fed. A cutting assembly is disposed between the transfer assembly and the feeding assembly for cutting the tubing into bands. The fingers of the transfer assembly move between a first closed position for receiving the band and a second open position for opening the band. The transfer arm is moveable between a first position for receiving the band and a second position for transferring the band. A banding assembly disposed at the second position receives the band from the transfer assembly. The banding assembly stretches the band and receives an item to be bundled within the band. The banding assembly releases the band about the bundle.

The method comprises the step of traversing the glass ribbon through a travel path at a predetermined velocity and severing the glass ribbon to create an upstream web and a downstream web. The method further includes the step of increasing a relative velocity of a downstream edge portion with respect to an upstream edge portion to create a gap between an upstream severed edge and a downstream severed edge. In other example methods, a segment of the glass ribbon is removed to create a gap between an upstream severed edge and a downstream severed edge. In still further example methods, an upstream severed edge is directed along a second travel path to create a gap between the upstream severed edge and a downstream severed edge.
