Abstract: The process for the production of a thermoelectrically weldable zone in thermoplastic materials is significantly improved by the true-to-size, air-free embedding of the heating conductor at a clearly defined depth below the joining surface. For this purpose in a first process step a sublevel wire bed bottom is cut in the material, in which is cut a substantially inverted T-shaped incision, running in two planes and at the desired depth, measured from the material surface and, following the surface profile, the cut is passed along the heating conductor insertion line. Using the same tool the cover strips formed are raised and stretched along the path of cut, so that an open channel is formed with the sublevel wire bed bottom. Preferably in the same operation the wire bed is also cut true-to-size with a cutting tool and corresponding to the heating conductor. In a later process step the heating conductor is placed through the still open channel, the cover strips are pressed and then melted.

  • Patent number: 4833953
Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically providing notching indicia on the edge of a garment subassembly to provide a dimensional reference to be utilized in subsequent fabrication of the goods. A conveyor transports the garment subassembly to a notching station at which the pre-assembled parts are secured in accurate registration to the path of a notching device that is movable on a carriage toward and away from the notching station. The notching device includes a vertically extending notching blade having a recessed cutting edge which, when positioned at the notching station, overlies an edge of the garment part subassembly. On displacing the blade downward, the notch indicia is cut into the garment piece after which the notching unit is withdrawn to a home position while the notched part is transported by the conveyor to a subsequent fabrication step. In a preferred embodiment two notching devices supported in a common path on opposite sides of the notching station are utilized.

Abstract: An inverter/stacker for use in the manufacture of brick is disclosed in which two gripper frames are provided. Each gripper frame operates to grip slugs at a gripping position and to stack slugs at a stacking position in which the slugs are deposited on other slugs to form pairs of slugs, with one resting on the other. During the transfer, the slugs may be inverted for face-setting or stacked without facing. During each complete cycle of operation, each gripper frame grips transfers and stacks slugs so that higher outputs can be obtained without operating the inverter/stacker at high cyclic rates. In the illustrated embodiment, four slugs are stacked during each cycle of operation.

  • Patent number: 4796497
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for cutting a chain of longitudinally joined elongate products into pieces of a desired length, the chain of elongate products is intermittently fed by a feed unit through a first distance equal to the length of each piece to be severed, along a path through a detector and a cutting unit downstream of the detector and the chain is cut successively into pieces of the desired length at the cutting unit while the feed unit is inoperative. As the chain is advanced, the joint portion of each adjacent pair of the elongate products is detected by the detector. Upon detection of the joint portion, a control unit computes the number of prospective pieces of the desired length producible by severing from a longitudinal portion of the chain which extends from the present leading end of the chain toward the detected joint portion and terminates short of the detected joint portion.
