Abstract: A system for cutting blocks of cheese or other food product into chunks includes conveyors for moving the blocks along an automated, continuous, in-line processing path. A block cutter cuts the blocks longitudinally and or vertically to provide one or more stacks of slabs which are destacked by a vacuum transfer apparatus. A transverse cutter cuts the individual slabs to create chunks of cheese or other food product. The conveyors include a stack conveyor located in the processing path for conveying successive stacks of slabs from the block cutter to the product destacking apparatus in succession, and a slab conveyor located in the processing path for conveying successive slabs from the product destacking apparatus to the transverse cutter. A trim cutting module includes a rotating mechanism that rotates a block during the trim operation, allowing trim to drop to a trim disposal conveyance.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method and an apparatus for cutting fibre mats, preferably from a roll, where the cutting is effected with a mechanical automatic tool, where cutting of the fibre mat is effected so that the cut surface on the fibre mat can be varied from an angle greater than 0° to an angle less than 180° in relation to both surfaces on the fibre mat, where it is the variable position of the fibre mat relative to the direction of movement and cutting of the cutting tool that determines the angle of the cut. By a method or an apparatus according to the above, a fibre mat may be cut with a cut which is particularly adapted to the specific piece of fibre mat which is cut. It is thus possible to have a production where various requirements to cut faces in the fibre mats can be met.
Abstract: A sheet material trimming apparatus and method are described which are suitable for use in a booklet making system. An exemplary apparatus includes at least one cutter for trimming a first and a second edge of a sheet material in a first and a second direction, and a drive system for moving the sheet material in two perpendicular directions for trimming the first and second edges with the at least one cutter. The drive system moves the sheet material in two perpendicular directions by rotating and translating a roller. The sheet material trimming apparatus allows for automatic changes in the amount of material cut off each side of the sheet material by moving the sheet material in two directions without requiring repositioning of the cutter(s).

Abstract: A clamp is provided that is capable of restraining an item during cutting and rotating the item between cutting a first end of the item and cutting a second end of the item. The clamp includes an upper jaw, a lower jaw, and a backplate that pivotally connects the lower jaw and the upper jaw. The clamp includes a latch that restrains the lower and upper jaws against movement relative to one another. Also provided is an apparatus for cutting an item. The apparatus includes a table and the clamp described above. Optionally, the apparatus can also include a cutter for cutting the item.
Abstract: An apparatus for boring stoma wafers is provided, which comprises a base and a cutter, and enables even a user himself to easily make in a stoma wafer a substantially elliptic hole having a beautiful inner circumference. The base comprises an upper base member on which a stoma wafer is placed so that the stoma wafer can be temporarily fixed thereon, and a lower base member supporting the upper base member so that the upper base member can be moved freely. After a stoma wafer in which a circular hole has been made by the cutter is slid with the upper base member, a circular hole is bored again by the cutter in a position which is staggered from the center of the initially-formed circular hole, and this enables a non-circular hole comprising not less than two staggered circular holes to be made in the stoma wafer.
Abstract: A punching device for edge decoration having a rotation unit which is capable of punching out a predetermined pattern repeatedly along an edge of a workpiece while accurately rotating the workpiece at a regular pitch is disclosed. This punching device includes a base (18) to which a workpiece is supplied, a jig (15) mounted on the base (18) and having a pattern hole (17) of a predetermined pattern, a punching member (13) formed in correspondence with the pattern hole (17), the punching member (13) passing through the pattern hole (17) to perforate the workpiece, a rotating unit for rotating the workpiece supplied on the base (18) so as to form a diagram in the workpiece by successive punching, and a fixing unit for fixing the workpiece to the rotating unit. A locking unit may be further provided for intermittently locking the rotation of the workpiece executed by the rotating unit.
Abstract: The invention provides an alignment device comprising a surface having a plurality of guides for positioning a card stock for cutting, and arranged in a manner that promotes a logical cutting sequence. The invention is also a method for operating a card cutting alignment system, comprising aligning paper stock using the alignment device, and cutting the aligned paper with a cutting means to produce a business card.
Abstract: An apparatus adjusts the position of a machining unit on a chip carrier maker. The machining unit machines a tape consisting of a row of interconnected chip carriers which are integrally formed with each other. The maker includes a stationary machine frame. The apparatus includes a longitudinal adjustment unit being capable of moving the machining unit in a direction parallel to the tape, and a transverse adjustment unit being capable of moving the machining unit in a direction perpendicular to the tape. The apparatus further includes two parallel sliding rails fixed on the machine frame and extending in a direction parallel to the tape, and a receiving seat mounted slidably on the sliding rails so as to guide the receiving seat to slide along the sliding rails when the longitudinal adjustment unit is actuated.
Abstract: A key punch apparatus is provided for selectively removing notches of material from a key blank. The apparatus includes a punch and die subassembly which is rotatable between first and second positions. A carrier holds the key blank in an operative relation with the subassembly. An actuating handle is operatively coupled to the punch to cause an axial cutting stroke. Cutting a notch with the subassembly in the first position results in a notch having a first shape, while cutting a notch with the subassembly in the second position results in a notch having a second shape.

Abstract: A device to duplicate a key utilizing the predetermined pitch codes and depth codes of the key to be duplicated, wherein a punch which produces an individual pattern of serrations and a die which makes a pair with said punch are used, a key-holding means which clamps a blank key to be duplicated is moved to the specified position by the use of a pitch code plate and either a depth code plate provided with stair-like codes corresponding respectively to the depth code of the key to be duplicated or a depth code piece whose contacting faces have the width corresponding respectively to the depth code of the key to be duplicated and, by the use of aforesaid punch and die, an individual serration pattern is formed one by one on the blank key mounted on the device.
Abstract: A printer includes a main body having an upper opening. A platen is arranged in the main body such that it opposes the opening. A cover is mounted on the main body such that it is pivotable between a closing position, for covering the opening except for a portion above the platen, and an opening position, for exposing the opening. A cutter having a blade is supported on the inner surface of the cover such that it opposes the main body. The cutter is pivotable between a stand-by position, where the blade is located above the platen, a cutting position, where the blade abuts against the peripheral surface of the platen, and a housing position, where the blade is located at a side opposite to the platen, about the pivotal center of the cutter. The cutter is selectively urged by springs toward the stand-by position or the housing position.
Abstract: Process and apparatus for automatically producing a fabric with aligned nap zone and napless zone includes a conveyor along which the fabric is transported in such a manner that its nap zone is located at one side of a press pad and the napless zone is located under and at the other side of the press pad. A clamping device can be lowered on the napless zone to pull the latter transversely to the conveying direction of the fabric so that the edge of the nap zone is forced towards the press pad and to be aligned parallel thereto. Through cutting the napless zone in conveying direction after the nap zone is urged to lie against the press pad parallel to the edge of the nap zone an exact alignment of the napless zone to the nap zone is achieved.
Abstract: The present invention is a strip feed control which is particularly useful in photographic systems such as film and paper cutters, film notchers, and printers. The photographic strip material is fed by a predetermined feed length during each operating cycle. The operator of the system visually monitors the position of the strip with respect to a reference position or indicator along the feed path and provides adjustment signal through an operator control knob. The strip position is moved in accordance with the desired adjustments, and the predetermined feed length for the next operating cycle is derived from the predetermined feed length of the just completed operating cycle, together with any adjustment in the strip position which was made by the operator.
