Feed Means Has Interrupted Frictional Surface Patents (Class 83/260)
  • Patent number: 6763871
Abstract: A slip cutting system sheets an infeed web into discrete articles and merges the articles to a carrier web. The slip cutting system comprises a continuously rotating cutting die having knife blades and packings consecutively around a peripheral surface. The packings cooperate with the knife blades to define a circumferential space between each packing and an associated knife blade. When a packing is at a nip with an anvil roller, the infeed web is drawn in a downstream direction. When a circumferential space is at the nip, the infeed web halts downstream motion. When a knife blade is at the nip, the knife blade sheets the infeed web. An insert station cooperates with the cutting die to longitudinally space the articles as they merge to and are propelled downstream by the carrier web. At a subsequent station, the composite web is cut to manufacture individual products.

  • Patent number: 5873291
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting fibrous reinforcement material in relationship with an ejector nozzle. The apparatus comprises at least two feeding rollers and a rotary cutter which is provided with a substantially cylindrical mantle surface with attachments for a number of knives. These cooperate with a support roller with an elastic surface layer for forming a thread nip. The mantle surface of the cutter is provided with slot-shaped recesses for the fiber thread, which recesses extend peripherally along the mantle surface and between successive knives. The recesses enable the thread to be fed forward by means of the feeding rollers at a feeding rate which deviates from the speed of the cutter, for adaptation of the cutting length of the fiber thread.

  • Patent number: 4817840
Abstract: A leader tape housing is provided with a compartment for mounting a reel with a leader tape thereon. A guide is provided for changing the path of the tape and the plane of the tape. A feeder device is provided in the housing which includes a first roller and a second roller forming a nip therebetween, the second roller being provided with a manually operable handle for driving it. The second roller includes a pair of diametrically opposed arc segments and a pair of diametrically opposed flats, such that the arc segments, when opposite the first wheel, form a nip with the wheels in contact therewith, and when the flats are opposite the first wheel, a gap is formed at the nip, allowing the tape to be pulled through without restraint. A cutting device is mounted on the cutting path on the outside of the housing for moving a knife against a die across the path of the tape, and means are provided for adjusting the angular plane of the knife. An adhesive tape dispenser is also mounted on the housing.

  • Patent number: 4779781
Abstract: A method and arrangement for severing packaging blanks, including a drive roller, a register roller at a location downstream of the drive roller and high-speed driving rollers downstream of the register roller for removing severed web portions. The drive roller is provided with a circumferential web-engaging surface and a knife located in a circumferential gap in the web-engaging surface. The drive roller cooperates with a counter roller, and a pendulum roller is located upstream of drive roller.

  • Patent number: 4345452
Abstract: A punching apparatus for punching a strip of lead alloy material into a battery grid is provided with a support for supporting the material to be punched thereon and biased punch members above the support for punching through the material. Rotating cams engage the punch members and force the punch members downward through the material on the support. Rollers provided adjacent the support and the material to be punched move the material across the support means synchronously with the motion of the rotating cams engaging the punches.

  • Patent number: 4305317
Abstract: A feed and cutting device for dividing a continuous web into portions is described. The device comprises along a feed plane, guiding device for the web comprising a pair of mutually tangential rollers, apparatus for feeding the web along said plane and a device for cutting the web into portions. The main feature of the device is that at least one of the guide rollers is mounted on a shaft coaxial thereto and rotating with continuous motion, and is connected to the shaft by a self-locking device which prohibits any discordant relative rotation between the roller and the shaft but which allows idle rotation of the roller on the shaft at an angular speed exceeding the angular speed of the shaft, the angular speed of the shaft being close to but less than the angular speed transmitted to the respective roller by the feed device by way of said web.

  • Patent number: 4149484
Abstract: A cutting apparatus for severing portions of identical length from a strip. This cutting apparatus comprises a feed means which is coupled to a drive means and which is adapted to feed the strip to a pair of advancing rolls located between the feed means and a cutting element. One of these advancing rolls is coupled to the drive means and is provided with a cam surface having a larger radius than the remaining roll surface. This cam surface, together with the other advancing roll, is adapted to engage the strip to move the strip forward towards a pair of receiving rolls through a distance determined by said cam surface. The central axes of the receiving rolls lie in a plane that is parallel to the plane through the central axes of the advancing rolls.
