Patent number: 7182009Abstract: A adjustable shuttle stop apparatus for use in controlling feeding of material to a machining operation on a machine tool, such as a band saw. The apparatus comprises a feed conveyor, a band saw adjacent to the feed conveyor, a shuttle vise movably disposed on the feed conveyor, and an adjustable stop on the feed conveyor for adjusting a distance between the stop and the shuttle vise and for stopping the shuttle vise at the cutting position. The adjustable stop compensates for undesired movement of the shuttle vise caused by clamping the workpiece such that the distance between the stop and the shuttle vise remains substantially constant. This allows for a consistent cut length of the workpiece on subsequent cutting cycles. Different embodiments of the adjustable stop are disclosed along with a method of use of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2004Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: HEM, Inc.Inventors: Gerald R. Patent number: 7032486Abstract: The description refers to a mill saw with a saw gate (3) driven via a slider-crank drive (4), whose parallel saw blades (5), which cut in only one stroke direction, are provided with a bias, and with a feed conveyor (6) for the stock to be cut, which is driven intermittently during the cutting stroke of the saw gate (3) as a function of the cutting speed by means of at least one motor (10) separated from the slider-crank drive (4) and connected to a controlling system (12). To achieve favorable construction features, it is suggested that the controlling system (12) connected to a signal transmitter (17) for a preset position of rotation of the slider-crank drive (4) controls the motor (10) in dependence on the response of the signal transmitter (17) according to a stored control program for one conveying step adaptable to the respective stroke frequency of the slider-crank drive (4).Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2000Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Wintersteiger GmbHInventors: Reinhold Mayr, Franz Diermaier

Patent number: 6227090Abstract: The present invention relates to an oscillating assembly for pivoting a blanking die that is constructed and arranged to cut blanks from sheet material. The oscillating assembly comprises a die supporting structure that pivots about a pivot axis. The die supporting structure receives and supports the die such that the sheet material can be fed into the die in a feeding direction and such that the pivoting of the die supporting structure pivots the die relative to the sheet material. A reversible rotary driving assembly rotates a rotatable output shaft in opposing first and second rotational directions. A linearly movable die driver is operatively connected to the output shaft such that (a) rotating the shaft in the first rotational direction thereof moves the die driver generally linearly in a first die driving direction and (b) rotating the shaft in the second rotational direction thereof moves the die driver generally linearly in a second die driving direction opposite the first die driving direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1999Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: Cosma International Inc.Inventor: Erich Genseberger

Patent number: 5421227Abstract: A web of coherent labels or coherent blanks of wrapping material is advanced along an elongated path toward a severing station where the web is cut at selected intervals by an orbiting knife in cooperation with a stationary or moving knife to yield a succession of sections of desired length. If the web is to be arrested for a shorter or longer period, it is first accelerated above its standard speed and is thereupon decelerated to zero speed during the last interval of advancement so that the length of the leader of the web extending beyond the severing station matches the desired length. Analogously, when the web is restarted, it is accelerated above the standard speed and is thereupon decelerated to such standard speed during the first interval of advancement so that the knives sever a section whose length again matches the desired length.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1993Date of Patent: June 6, 1995Assignee: Alfill Getranketechnik GmbHInventors: Albrecht Rohrdanz, Jens Naecker

Patent number: 4052249Abstract: A length of face sealing valve stock is formed into individual face sealing valves and applied to end closures of pressurized dispensers. The stock advances in steps by a feed dog in vent slots in the tape. The tape is held against advancement by an index dog at all other times. Lost motion in the feed dog drive accommodates the drive to tape arrest and permits shutdown and startup at a known, predetermined position in a cycle. A head carries a punch and shear blade which form vent slots and cut the tape to valve length during the time that the tape is stopped. Tape is sheared to valve length at an index wheel which holds the tape by vacuum during shear and successive 90.degree. transports for solvent activation of adhesive and transfer from the wheel by bonding the activated adhesive to an end closure. A proximator forces an end closure into contact with a valve during transfer.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1975Date of Patent: October 4, 1977Assignee: Sterigard CorporationInventors: Roger K.
