The buffer layer can include one or more channels in its second surface, and the one or more channels can correspond to a pattern to be cut from the material. The depth of the one or more channels can be sufficient to provide a clearance depth between a tip of the cutting tool and a bottom surface of each of the one or more channels. The clearance depth can prevent the tip of the cutting tool from wearing against the bottom surface of the channels, thereby increasing life expectancy of the cutting tool and reducing process costs.

    Abstract: A method of forming a batch of uniformly shaped glass sheet objects is disclosed. A stack of glass sheets is placed in a frame and submerged in a coolant. A hole is drilled through the stack. The cores of the hole and any debris from the drilling process are swept away in the coolant and pumped through a filter. A pin is inserted into the hole and attached to the base. A head on the pin, or a washer, fixes the stack of glass to the base at the hole. An outer profile is then cut in the glass stack around the hole while the formed objects are held to a base of the frame by the pin. Again, any debris is swept away in the coolant. The uniformly shaped objects are removed from the frame and separated. The glass sheet objects are preferably usable as a substrate for a magnetic or magneto-optical (MO) data/information storage retrieval medium.

    Abstract: A head stack assembly of a disk drive unit including a head arm assembly (HAA) having a head gimbal assembly, a drive arm to be connected with the head gimbal assembly; wherein the drive arm comprises a securing portion, a connection portion and a spacer connecting the securing portion with the connection portion. In the present invention, at least one undercut is formed on the spacer of the drive arm to strengthen the drive arm. The invention also discloses a method of manufacturing such a head stack assembly.

A central rail structure 34 that runs down approximately the center axis of the stator frame 2, and attached to the central rail structure are adjustable supports 40 that hold the central rail structure within the stator frame. A dolly 36 is positioned on top of the central rail structure 34. The dolly 36 has multiple finger supports 38 disposed on its top and the finger supports match corresponding grooves in stator core laminations 10. Lamination are placed onto the dolly, gaps in the lamination engage the finger supports on the upper inner diameter of the lamination. This allows for the lamination to be horizontally moved into place within the stator frame.
