Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for cutting metal sheet having two rotatable drums, wherein the metal sheet passes between the drums for cutting. Each of the drums has a cutting blade moved into and out of cutting position by an axial actuator rod. The cutting blade includes two sets of rollers bearing against one of a pair of profiled side surfaces of the axial actuator rod.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement for operating a rotating starting shear operating in a start-stop operation on rolling stock travelling at different speeds in wire mills, light-section mills, medium plate mills and billet mills, wherein the shear, whose gear system is connected through a coupling to a drive motor, is accelerated from the position of rest to approximately rolling speed and, after the cut has been carried out, is stopped again. A gear mechanism is arranged between the gear unit of the shear and the drive motor, wherein torsion-proof couplings are arranged between the gear unit of the shear and the gear mechanism and between the gear mechanism and the drive motor.
Abstract: A release assembly for wire cutting apparatus. The present invention provides a release assembly for wire cutting apparatus which allows for dynamic alteration of the cut parameters. The release assembly allows for the length of the wire to be cut to be altered, allows for the biasing force to be increased or decreased to thereby reset the release assembly for a wide range of wire gauges, and allows for the stroke length to be altered to thereby either increase or decrease the cut frequency. The release assembly includes a housing having a distal end, a proximal end and a longitudinal chamber. A plunger tube is slidably disposed in the longitudinal chamber and is biased towards the proximal end by a dynamically adjustable spring mechanism. A gauge rod is mounted within the plunger tube at an adjustable axial position. In operation, the wire being pulled from the coil engages the gauge rod and pushes the gauge rod and plunger tube in the distal direction.

Abstract: This cutting apparatus includes a frame structure supporting a cutting roller and a counter pressure roller arranged at an angle relative to the feed advance direction of sheet material to be cut. Drive means are provided for the cutting roller and for the counter pressure roller in the form of a common drive chain positively interconnecting the rollers with a drive motor through an instantaneously operable clutch, such as an electro-magnetic or pneumatic clutch. A brake is provided between the cutting roller and the frame structure, whereby the control of the clutch and of the brake is such that engagement of the positive drive through the clutch disengages the brake and vice-versa.
