Abstract: Perforating equipment (111) for high speed transversal perforations of variable lengths on a continuous form (32) in movement is disclosed. The perforations are carried out by means of a perforating blade (39a) against a projecting profile (41a) of a blade contrast (39a) and blade and contrast servomechanisms (43, 128) for rotating a support for the blade and the blade contrast. The projecting profile (41a) has sectors with axial extensions different in dependence on their angular positions. The contrast servomechanism (128) is settable for selecting an angular phase of the blade contrast (39a), such to positioning, for the contrast with the blade, a sector of the projecting profile (41a) having axial extension equal to the requested length of the perforation (P). • Patent number: 4363453
Abstract: Continuous scrap edge trimmings are fed from a sheet metal slitter into a scrap chopper incorporating a rotor shaft supporting axially spaced and circumferentially spaced elongated straight cutting bars each having a plurality of selectable straight cutting edges. Each rotary cutting bar revolves past a stationary straight cutting bar also having a plurality of selectable straight cutting edges, and each cutting edge is positioned at a compound angle relative to planes including the axis of the rotor to produce scissor-like shearing of each strip. Each stationary cutting bar is positioned adjacent a spring biased anvil and is supported with the anvil for remote adjustment relative to the path of the corresponding cutting bars on the rotor. Each edge trimming is fed into the cutting bars by a corresponding pair of feed rollers one of which is spring biased and the other of which is independently driven by a corresponding motor.

  • Patent number: 4356745
Abstract: A synchronous rotary cross cutter for cutting a material web of paper or the like has two drums which synchronously rotate about parallel axes at opposite sides of the material web, and a cutting element on each drum. One of the cutting elements is elastically yieldable, and the drum for this cutting element has a helical bearing surface with an axis lying on the cutting edge of the elastically yieldable cutting element. The helical surface of the drum has such an inclination that the free angles of the elastically yieldable cutting element at the beginning and at the end of the cutting line are identical.

  • Patent number: 4283976
Abstract: A cutting means in an apparatus for continuously manufacturing spiral strip piping, fed in unbroken lengths, consisting of an upper, driven knife wheel (4) and a lower, freely rotating, circular, substantially horizontal support roller knife (20). The knives (4,20) are arranged on a table (22), swivellable in relation to the travel of the strip (1) and displaceable perpendicularly to the travel of the strip (1). Before cutting, the angle of the upper knife (4) to the travel of the strip (1) is adjusted, by means of the swivellable table (22), to the desired pipe diameter for providing square pipe ends.

  • Patent number: 4228735
Abstract: In an offset duplicating machine, an implement for marking, such as perforating, slitting, scoring or the like, each printed sheet conveyed through the machine; for transverse marking, a first marking strip is affixed lengthwise on an impression cylinder and a rotatable counter-roller is mounted adjacent and at a skew inclination to the impression cylinder; the counter-roller has an outer surface of hyperboloidal shape which allows the strip to progressively mark the passing sheet. By grooving the counter-roller or by varying the distance separating it from the impression cylinder, additional marking strips may be affixed to the impression cylinder to provide various marking configurations on the printed sheet.

  • Patent number: 4200017
Abstract: Method and apparatus for sectioning traveling elongate material. The apparatus has a pair of cutting cylinders mounted for rotation with their axes substantially parallel. Cutting edges are formed at the peripheries of adjacent tapered end faces of the cutting cylinders, the cutting edge of one cylinder being in close proximity to that of the other. The cutting cylinders are rotated in synchronism so that the cutting edges execute a cutting stroke in unison, the length of the cutting stroke being in excess of the width of the elongate material to be cut. A mechanism is provided which limits feeding of elongate material to material having a width less than the length of the cutting stroke. The method provides for the feeding of elongate material through a pair of rotating cutting cylinders which define a cutting path longer than the width of the elongate material.

  • Patent number: 4159661
Abstract: A rotary cutter in which a bed knife is displacably mounted with relation to the rotary knife so that the bed knife, when actuated, travels a path between an operative position adjacent the rotary knife and an inoperative position remote from the rotary knife. An extendable linkage connected to the bed knife defines the operative position of the bed knife at the point of maximum linkage extension. Adjusting means connected with the linkage enable precise determination of maximum linkage extension which thereby insures precise setting of the bed knife and prevents bed knife travel beyond the operative position.

  • Patent number: 4119003
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for transversely cutting up a web of material to form blanks of equal length, particularly tickets. The apparatus comprises a cutting head and infeed means for feeding the web to the cutting head. The cutting head has a frame supporting a cutting cylinder and a counter-blade. The cutting cylinder is provided with at least one blade on its periphery. The frame is arranged to pivot about a vertical axis that is disposed laterally of the web. This enables the angle of the cutting head relative to the web to be adjusted in dependence upon the rate of feed of the web. Means are provided for driving the cutting cylinder and the infeed means in such a manner that their speeds are in a fixed ratio.
