Abstract: A punching apparatus includes a holding part for holding a workpiece, a punch having a punching portion at an axial end thereof, the punching portion being configured to be inserted into the workpiece for punching the workpiece. The punching apparatus further includes a guide part supporting the punch so as to be movable in an axial direction of the punch, and a rotating part for rotating the punch around the axial direction of the punch while the punch is away from the workpiece.
Abstract: A slicing apparatus and method suitable for reliably slicing elongated food products along a longitudinal axis thereof. The apparatus includes a slicing wheel mounted for rotation about a roughly horizontal axis, a first delivery structure adapted to deliver food product to the slicing wheel, and a moving delivery device adapted to press the food product against the first delivery structure and propel the food product in a delivery direction along a length of the first delivery structure to the slicing wheel. The slicing wheel produces a slice cut in the food product parallel to the delivery direction in which the food product is delivered to the slicing wheel.
Abstract: An electronic sheet cutting machine includes a housing to which a drive roller is coupled for moving a sheet to be cut in a first direction and a cutter assembly coupled to the housing and moveable in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. A user interface is incorporated into the housing for allowing a user to select via the user interface at least one shape to be cut by the cutter assembly wherein controlled movement of the drive roller and the cutter assembly causes a shape to be cut in the sheet.

Abstract: A device for forming a cutting blade for prints is disclosed. The device of this invention forms cutting blades by appropriately bending and cutting a metal strip into desired blades through integrated work regardless of a difference in the size of metal strips. The device is also provided with changeable jigs, thus being capable of forming bridge notches having different intervals, widths and configurations. The device has one vertically movable bending pin and one swing cutter. The bending pin is capable of quickly bending a metal strip into a desired configuration, while the swing cutter finely and precisely cuts the metal strip into cutting blades. The device also quickly produces high precision cutting blades, thus improving productivity and reducing the cost of the cutting blades.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an automatic cutting device which can be utilized for cutting woody plant material (e.g., stem, stalk). The subject device can comprise a housing having a fixed blade attached thereto. A movable blade, pivotally connected to the fixed blade, can be attached to an activating device for movement. The activating device is preferably a pushrod activated by an electrical solenoid which produces the force necessary to push the movable blade against the fixed blade in a cutting action. A spring can be used to return the movable blade to the open position between cuts. The solenoid can be activated by a switching means which is triggered by a lever device located in close proximity to the cutting portion of the blades. In a specific embodiment, as the stem is lowered, the lever is depressed which triggers the switch to activate the solenoid. The solenoid forces the push rod to push the movable blade against the fixed blade in a single cutting action to cut the stem.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for cutting sheet material in which the apparatus comprises a turntable, a cutter guide and a cutter mounted on and moveable along the cutter guide. A piece of sheet material to be cut is mounted on the turntable and a straight line is cut in the material by keeping the turntable stationary and pressing the cutter into the card and moving it along the guide. An arch is cut in the card by rotating the turntable underneath the stationary cutter. The movement of the turntable is limited by a pair of stoppers. Stoppers are provided for limiting the travel of the cutter.
Abstract: In a film feeder for use in an automatic developing machine, a cutter control circuit actuates a cutter using electrical energy from a utility power source and electrical energy stored in a capacitor if a film end sensor detects the tail end of a film during normal feeding conditions. In the event that the film end sensor detects the tail end of the film in the event of a power failure, the cutter control circuit actuates the cutter using the electrical energy stored in the capacitor. This makes it possible to actuate the cutter even in the event of a power failure as well as to reduce the capacitance of the utility power source to a small level.

Abstract: A continuously fed tube is momentarily halted at a cutting station and quickly cut by a rotating knife. The tube is continuously advanced from driving rollers to idler rollers and passes through intermediate pinch rollers which are cam controlled in synchronism with the cutting process to bow the tube at a rate which causes the tube portion at the cutting station to briefly stop during cutting. The cutter includes a planetary gear set having a carrier rotatable about a central axis which carries a knife for rotation about another axis while it revolves about the central axis. The knife makes many rotations per carrier revolution but is in position to cut the tube during one of the rotations.

The direction of transportation of the second belt conveyor is at a substantial angle relative to the transportation direction of the first belt conveyor. A guide channel, which extends from a delivery side of the first belt conveyor to an input side of the second belt conveyor, is provided for the cable. A slider is disposed opposite to the second belt conveyor relative to the guide channel for engaging a wire disposed in the guide channel. A slot is disposed between guide channel and second belt conveyor. The slot opens for a cable section pushed by the slider from the guide channel into the direction of the second belt conveyor for placing the cable between belts of the second belt conveyor system.
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting parts out of a sheet of material including a cutting table, an endless gas permeable conveyor movable in a feed direction along the cutting table for supporting the sheet material thereon, a suction box for applying a vacuum to the conveyor and holding the material firmly against the conveyor during a feeding step and a cutting step, a plasma arc cutter for cutting parts from the material supported on the conveyor and a carriage for supporting the plasma arc cutter and moving it along pattern coordinates of the parts. A brake is mounted on the carriage for selectively engaging the conveyor with the carriage to thereby selectively advance the conveyor along the feed direction. A controller stores pattern coordinates of the parts and controls movement of the carriage and actuation of the brake.

In accordance with one embodiment, the punch tooling is desirably of elongated cross section with a length L in its elongated axis and a width W in its transverse axis which is less than 1/2 L.

Abstract: A first transport mechanism which unwinds the cable from a drum and which transports the cable in the direction of its longitudinal axis is provided. A second transport mechanism comprises two belt drives, disposed successively as seen in the direction of the cable, which transport the cable perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cable to the individual stations processing the cable ends. Upon advancing through the first transport mechanism, the cable is fed into a guide channel which is formed by a groove and by a ledge bar, where the groove is covered like two lips toward the second transport mechanism by two spring plates. Two separately controllable sliders engage the guide channel from the rear side, which sliders press the end of the cut-to-length cable section between the lip-shaped spring sheet metal sections into the belt drives. Advantageously, a guide sleeve is disposed between the first transport mechanism and a cutting provision.

Abstract: A shear discharge conveying system including a plurality of individual conveying belt modules connectd to a main frame for easy repair and replacement. Impact bar assemblies are spaced between the modules to prevent sheared material from impacting directly on the belts. Rows of vertically extending and retracting gauging supports are adjustable to match the cut size, and tension links connected between the rows prevent the material from nosing down between supports. A scrap gripping and conveying mechanism moves strips of scrap transversely to the conveying direction directly behind the shear before the strips can contact and foul the conveyor. The main frame is mounted on air pads so a single operator can move the entire system to and from the shear.
Abstract: A photographic slide mounter cuts photographic film transparencies from a photographic film web and inserts the transparencies into slide mounts. A slide mount is advanced along a slide track to a position adjacent a knife where the slide mount is flexed to provide an insertion opening. The film web is advanced along a film track until a leading end of the web is partially inserted into the insertion opening. A first plurality of rollers are positioned over the film track and a second plurality of rollers are positioned under the film track to prevent transverse curl of the film web as it is advanced toward the insertion opening. A pair of curved shoes is mounted over the film track proximate the knife to prevent longitudinal curl of the film web as it is advanced through the knife and into the insertion opening. The knife is provided with tapered portions to align the web as it passes the knife.
Abstract: An automatic sheet metal cutting machine has a continuous supply of metal strips in adjustable lengths, at will. A reciprocating cutter cuts laminations from the metal strip and a receiver receives the laminations. The receiver includes a swiveling plate movable through an angle .alpha. at will about a pin perpendicular to the direction motion of the laminations. The receiver is lowered and moved downstream relative to the direction of motion of the laminations received thereby.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting sheet material as a cantilever vacuum table with a fluid permeable support surface upon which sheet material may be spread. A movable vacuum box supported below the surface of the table defines a vacuum chamber and is connected outboard of a free edge of the table to a carriage assembly which moves a blade in cutting relation to material spread on the table in response to signals received from a programmable controller. The vacuum box moves with the blade and relative to the table to apply vacuum to a limited area of the table immediately surrounding the cutting region of the blade.

Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a scrapped good such as a scrapped automobile. The apparatus has a machine frame having a table provided with a recess, and a bifurcated pressing member rotatable into and out of the recess by means of a pressing cylinder. The pressing member has a lifting portion and a cutting portion provided at its both side with cutting edges for co-operation with cutting edges formed at both sides of the recess. As the pressing cylinder is energized, the pressing member is rotated into the recess to cut and press the scrap into tabular form. The pressed tabular scrap is then lifted by the returning rotation of the pressing member to the level of the table surface, and is discharged to the out of the apparatus by means of a pay-off device mounted on the machine frame.
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for supporting the end portion of a workpiece blank which extends through and to the rear of power shear blades. The apparatus includes a table top and a frame supporting the table top. The front portion of the table top is supported for limited vertical displacement by rollers on opposite sides of the table engaged in horizontal track sections of vertically displaceable tracks interposed between the table top and the frame. The rear portion of the table top is separately supported by reciprocating rear table supports on opposite sides of the table top, the rear table supports being guided for vertical displacement in vertical ways provided on opposite sides of the frame. The table top is displaceable downwardly in response to downward movement of the movable shear blade, and is tiltable rearwardly after initial downward displacement by reason of the rear table supports being allowed greater downward displacement than the rollers supporting the front portion of the table top.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sheet cutting apparatus comprising a body; a lower blade provided with a cutting edge and supported on the body; an upper blade provided with a cutting edge and mounted on the body by connecting means so as to be scissorwise movable with respect to the lower blade; as well as support means supported adjacent to the cutting edge of the lower blade below the upper blade. The support means comprises a support plate mounted upon the support means by means of at least three pre-stressed springs fitted along the support means. The springs may be pre-stressed between support plate and support means by means of pull rods. The support means is preferably provided with a power unit for moving the support means upwards and downwards.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for splicing the trailing end of an expiring web of an old stock roll to the leading web end of a new stock roll. The new stock roll is provided with a splicing tape for initially releasably attaching the leading end of the new stock roll to its outer web convolution. A plurality of sensors are provided for positioning the new stock roll and splicing tape in a precise presplicing position prior to the splicing operation. During the splicing operation, a web guiding and severing mechanism guides the expiring web into engagement with the new stock roll, severs the expiring web, and splices the trailing end of the expiring web to the splicing tape on the leading end of the new stock roll.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing elongated lengths of material from a supply thereof, such as insulated wire mounted on spools or reels, into lengths, such as into electrical leads of predetermined lengths. The wire is drawn off continuously from the reel and is fed intermittently into the apparatus wherein it is cut off to lengths and gripped in the apparatus with the ends of the cut-off lengths a fixed distance apart and exposed. When the wire is thus cut off and gripped, it is moved at right angles to the length thereof along the apparatus while work operations are performed on at least one end of the lead, the work operations consisting of stripping insulation from the end of the lead and applying a terminal thereto. When the leads have been completely processed, the apparatus straightens the leads out in the direction of the length thereof and delivers them to a receiving station, and wherein the leads are counted and removed from the receiving station in batches of a predetermined number.
