Nonrectilinear Cutting Patents (Class 83/48)
  • Publication number: 20140360326
Abstract: A cutting head for a food product cutting system includes a generally cylindrical rotatable body, having a radius and configured to rotate about an axis, and a plurality of spatially separated, generally parallel elongate cutting blades, arranged in a circular array centered on the axis and defining a perimeter of the body. Each blade has a long dimension and an outwardly-oriented cutting edge. The generally cylindrical rotatable body is connectable to a driving mechanism configured to rotate the cutting head about the axis, and is positionable adjacent to a food product delivery mechanism, whereby food product that contacts the cutting edges of the array of blades in a direction generally perpendicular to the axis is cut by the blades into slices having a repeatable curvature.

  • Patent number: 8433435
Abstract: This invention pertains to machinery and methods for cutting a workpiece utilizing a cutting tool into at least two parts having prescribed shapes from a metal plate comprising the steps of: identifying each of the parts by one or more contour lines; cutting a workpiece along one of the identifying contour lines into one of the parts; creating at least one path diversion, wherein the diversion has an associated bounded region or opportunity; cutting the workpiece along a contour line associated with the opportunity; resuming the cutting of the part along the identifying contour line with minimal damage to the part being cut; finishing the cutting of the part and then moving the cutting tool to the opportunity and then to an associated adjacent identifying contour line and then repeating the process until all parts have been manufactured.

  • Patent number: 7984737
Abstract: In a state that a reference plane of a cutter holder, to which a cutter blade is attached, is brought into contact with a surface of a base of a supporting adhesive tape, the cutter blade cuts the supporting adhesive tape while the reference plane of the cutter holder follows the surface of the base. Herein, a cutting edge of the cutter blade passes by a joining interface between the supporting adhesive tape and a ring frame without penetrating through an adhesive layer of the supporting adhesive tape.

  • Publication number: 20030047046
Abstract: The invention refers to a tool (1), a machine tool, and a method for cutting machining of a workpiece. The tool includes a mounting portion (5) for mounting of the tool in the machine tool, a tool shaft (7), which has a first inner end (7′), connected to the mounting portion (5), a longitudinal centre axis (a), which extends through the mounting portion and the tool shaft, and a main cutting edge (9) on the tool shaft. The main cutting edge (9) has an extension in an axial direction along an imaginary envelope surface, which is concentric to the centre axis (a) and located radially outside an outer periphery surface of the tool shaft (7). The main cutting edge (9) is arranged to permit cutting engagement with said workpiece when the tool is rotated around the longitudinal centre axis.

  • Patent number: 6220132
Abstract: A band saw attachment for working in conjunction with a band saw for cutting arcuate panels from a piece of stock. The attachment includes a frame structure and a carriage movably mounted on the frame structure and movable back and forth between selected cutting positions. A rotating support is pivotally mounted to the carriage and pivotally movable back and forth relative to the blade of the band saw. In operation, the rotating support receives and holds a piece of stock and by rotating the support the blade of the band saw functions to cut arcuate shaped panels from the piece of stock.

  • Patent number: 5697272
Abstract: A method for making perforations in a continuous film which is thereafter cut into individual filmstrips having variable lengths. A die set unit of the perforator has a plurality of punches and corresponding dies which are respectively arranged along the continuous film. The die set unit performs die-punching N times (N=1, 2, 3 . . . ) in every first section having a variable length Lx, and the measuring feeder transports the continuous film by a first length after each of (N-1) times die-punching and by a second length after the last die-punching for every first section. The first length is given as Lx/N, and the second length corresponds to the first length plus the length L2 of a second section disposed alternately with the first section along the continuous film. In alternative, the die set unit is constituted of first to nth die sets aligned in order from downstream to in the film transporting direction. The ith die set of the die sets has a number Gi (i=1, 2, . . .

  • Patent number: 4790223
Abstract: For separating off a stack of individual shaped items such as bottle neck labels from a stack of strips each carrying several such items, a punching die is used which has a punching contour which corresponds to the desired shape of the cutting line between the individual shaped items. The cutting line also corresponds to the rear contour of the separate stack of individual shaped items. The shape of the cutting line of the punching die is freely selectable. At its rear edge the punching die is smooth and the separated-off stack of shaped items accommodates any compression of the material forming the stack by means of an offset angle so that the remainder of the strip of shaped items has a smooth and perpendicular cut edge.
