  • Patent number: 8601924
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for cutting a film wrapped around a tray containing full bottles. The apparatus has a tray supporting surface formed with a pair of mirror image arcuate slots. A pair of knives are mounted to conveyor mechanisms to be driven in paths for cutting the film wrap on the bottom surface of the tray in the form of an X. A pair of adjustable side rails and a retracting stop are positioned to locate the tray for accurate film cutting. The knives travel sequentially to avoid interference as their paths intersect at the apex of each conveyor mechanism. Subsequent to cutting the film wrap, an operator is able to lift the film wrap off the tray and bottles to enable the bottles to be lifted and moved for creating a variety sales unit containing multiple drink flavors in the same tray.

  • Patent number: 5431076
Abstract: An apparatus adapted for trimming a plastic covering from a mouth opening of a blow-molded universal urinal includes a retaining block for rigidly holding the urinal in position opposite a trimming apparatus. The apparatus mechanically moves a knife mounted thereon in an oval pattern in one plane while simultaneously moving the knife in an alternately concave and convex pattern in a second plane orthogonal to the first plane. The knife is mounted on a platform which is itself movable in the second plane independently of the movement of the knife. As the platform is moved toward the urinal mouth, the knife is moved in the described pattern, thus smoothly trimming the urinal mouth.

Abstract: A pattern holding assembly and a crystal material holding assembly are paired on opposed ends of a shaft passing transversely through a base unit such that the pattern and the crystal material are simultaneously rotated with a driven shaft through 360 degrees of angle, or multiples thereof, by an exterior drive mechanism. A second shaft, directed through the base unit to be parallel to the first axis, and to pivot about its longitudinal axis, is adapted to carry a stylus bit for tracing the pattern and a cutter bit for scribing the pattern onto the crystal material. The two shafts are offset sufficiently to enable rotation of the second shaft to completely follow the pattern, the stylus and the cutter bit being continuously in transverse alignment.

  • Patent number: 5193596
Abstract: This invention is a pattern cutting assembly including a pattern guide member used in cooperation with a pattern and workpiece holding frame which, in turn, has a workpiece member mounted thereon and used in conjunction with a rotating blade, such as a router blade or a scroll saw blade, to cut a pre-determined accurate pattern within the workpiece member. The pattern cutting guide member includes a main circular support plate with a central opening in which a guide hub member is mounted and a clip connector assembly. The clip connector assembly includes a plurality of spaced clip members for anchoring and positioning in an upper support plate of a router table assembly. The pattern guide member can have the main circular support plate and the central guide hub member provided with a connected slot portion from an outer periphery of the main circular support plate which allows for a continuous blade, such as a jigsaw blade or a scroll saw blade, to be positioned centrally of the guide hub member.

Abstract: A porous panel cutting and forming device and method is provided including a support and guide block with an "L" shaped guide slot into which a pivot guide pin is inserted depending downwardly from a radial arm with a knife blade depending from an end. The arm member is pushed or pulled along the slot to cut the straight edge and then rotated ninety degrees while the guide pin remains relatively stationary in the guide slot, followed by movement of the arm member along the straight section of the slot to finish the cut forming a top or bottom panel section of a ninety degree angle curved heating and air conditioning duct section. The back of the duct section to be attached to the curved portion of the corner is formed in a curved shape after cutting parallel slits one inch apart transverse across the panel at a forty-five degree angle to the surface.

  • Patent number: 5031496
Abstract: Frozen slabs of fish are introduced one at a time to one end of a conveyor having a bed of laterally spaced plastic strips forming slots therebetween. Beneath each slot is an endless chain having a series of upwardly directed fingers thereon. The fingers are engageable with the various slabs so as to advance the slabs to a location beneath an assembly of water jet devices, each device including a pivotal arm having a nozzle at one end thereof. A barrel cam has a plurality of tracking grooves, the pivotal arms having cam followers depending downwardly therefrom into the tracking grooves of the barrel cam. As the slabs are successively advanced beneath the liquid jet devices, the jets cut the particular slab into individual portions. Advancement of the now severed portions cause the portions to be moved onto a plurality of tilt strips which prevent the cut edges from freezing together.
