  • Patent number: 6408727
Abstract: A printer mechanism includes a single motor turning a system drive gear in a paper feeding direction, and in a cam driving direction, opposite the paper feeding direction. When the system drive gear is turned in the paper feeding direction, a paper feeding spring clutch drives a paper feed roll with the system drive gear. When the system drive gear is turned in the cam driving direction, a drive cam is driven by a cam driving spring clutch. The drive cam has a first surface driving a moving knife blade across a stationary knife blade in a cutting direction, and in a return direction opposite the cutting direction. With this movement in the cutting direction, the moving knife is held against the stationary knife blade, and, with movement in the return direction, the moving knife is moved away from the stationary knife blade, by means of a second surface of the drive cam.

  • Patent number: 5408908
Abstract: A cutting machine for sheet material comprising a frame, a stationary knife on the frame and a reciprocating blade cooperating with the stationary knife. A motor on the frame is connected to a gear reducer that is in turn connected to a single push rod through a crank. The push rod is operatively connected to a torque tube that is connected adjacent its ends by link means to the reciprocating blade. Rotation of the crank by the gear reducer will actuate the single push rod and the torque tube operatively connected thereto to reciprocate the reciprocating blade. Spring means for assisting movement of the reciprocating blade are readily adjusted from exterior of the frame of the cutting machine. A rotatable cam follower on the reciprocating blade engages a guide block on the frame for moving the reciprocating blade into proper cooperative engagement with the stationary knife in use.

  • Patent number: 5347699
Abstract: A device for partially shearing single or multiple sheets of material comprising a base having a recess and a lower blade fixed in the recess. A pair of movable blades having opposed ends are pivotally attached to the base at one end. A lost-motion connecting link connects the free ends of the pair of movable blades together and is connected to a hydraulic piston which moves the link a limited distance towards the base, thereby to rotate both movable blades relative to the fixed blade with a scissors-like action. When the pair of blades is moved towards the lower blade, the material is cut inward from both sides or edges of the material, leaving an inner uncut portion of material having a width which corresponds to the stroke of the movable blades.

  • Patent number: 5209151
Abstract: In a tape cutter capable of cutting a tape completely and enhancing the durability of the cutter blade, a cutter holder is rotated by the engagement of a holder gear portion with a lever gear portion according to the rotation of an operation lever so that a cutter blade is moved toward a tape face. A sliding projection slides upwardly along an inclined face and the cutter holder is moved in the widthwise direction of the tape T. Therefore the cutter blade 13 presses the tape face and cuts the tape T while sliding in the widthwise direction of the tape T.

  • Patent number: 5044243
Abstract: A cutting apparatus including a pair of blades respectively having linearly extending cutting edges so that the cutting edges are brought into sliding contact with each other to cut a member to be cut which is put between the cutting edges. The cutting apparatus is provided with press members for bringing the sliding contact surface of one of the cutting edges into press contact with the sliding contact surface of the other when the two blades are brought into sliding contact with each other, the press members being disposed along one of the blades. Thus, the sliding contact between the two blades is ensured independently of the rigidity of the blades. Accordingly, it becomes possible to reduce the thickness and increase the length of the blades.

  • Patent number: 4510841
Abstract: A paper shear mechanism consists of a guillotine having a fixed blade and a pivoted blade. The cutting edge of the fixed blade is concavely curved so that paper to be cut as fed between the blades assumes a corresponding curvature and is given some longitudinal rigidity during the cutting operation. The pivoted blade is of composite structure to simplify the manufacturing process and thus reduce cost. Essentially, it includes a cutting section stamped from flexible sheet steel shim to provide a cutting edge with the desired nip angle. The flexible steel section is spot welded to a mild steel backing member with an elongated spring member sandwiched between the two. The spring member has a number of spring teeth which exert a force along the length of the flexible section to deflect its cutting edge laterally towards the fixed blade. By this means contact between the cutting edges is maintained along the length of a cut and relief between the facing surfaces of the two blades is provided.

  • Patent number: 4385538
Abstract: A shear for cutting bar stock includes upper and lower cutting blade supports each having a cutting blade, and a hold-down member, all pivotally connected about a working bearing. This assembly is pivotally mounted about a second bearing or pivot axis on one end of a frame of the shear, and is height-adjustable by a lockable hydraulic actuator attached to the upper cutting blade support at the opposite end of the shear, to provide vertical adjustability of the cutting point with minimal horizontal or angular displacement thereof. Preferably, the two pivot axes and the cutting point are coplanar. The upper cutting blade support is pivoted relative to the lower one by a hydraulic actuator engaging the upper support at one upper part thereof which is not so coplanar, to provide both a relatively long lever arm and a relatively long cutting arm for minimizing arcuation of the cutting movement. One cutting blade is adjustable within its support for optimum positioning taking into account the shape of the stock.

  • Patent number: 4332538
Abstract: Dough which is to be formed into small volumes for later baking into bread, etc. is moved from a mass of dough in the lower portion of a hopper by a pair of helical screws, through a conduit, first to a metering means and then through a dispensing nozzle. A paddle reciprocates through an arc adjacent the dispensing nozzle and on its downward stroke is oscillated so that its lower edge abuts the dispensing nozzle to sever the dough moved through the dispensing nozzle away from the oncoming dough, and then oscillates away from the dispensing nozzle as it returns to its ready position. The downward severing movement of the paddle is initiated by the metering means.

  • Patent number: 4020727
Abstract: An automatic capacitor winding machine has a retractable bifurcated arbor and vertically movable clamps to grasp the ends of the capacitor dielectric layers and carry those ends to a point below the retracted arbor. The bifurcated arbor is registered in its retracted state with its slot parallel to the dielectric layers. The arbor is then extended and grasps the dielectric layers between its tangs. The pressure grasping the dielectric layers is partially removed to allow the arbor to rotate and pull the dielectric layers from between the clamps. A stripper washer is provided to freely rotate on the arbor with limited movement parallel to the axis of the arbor and with a relatively small clearance between the washer's inside surface and the arbor's outside surface. Photoelectric means are provided to accurately detect the location of the first tab (terminal) to time the insertion of the other tabs. A reciprocating blade severs the dielectric layers after the capacitor is wound.
