  • Publication number: 20130145914
Abstract: Crank scissors, especially for cutting rolling strips, having two pairs of blades which can be secured to the blade carriers. The blade carriers are arranged in an opposite position on a vertical plane in a pair of eccentric drive shafts. Double-joint arrangements are maintained in a pivotable manner on torque-supporting levers co-operating with hydraulic control units that engage the levers. The blade carriers form pairs of heating surfaces, which are parallel to the axis, for the pairs of blades on approximately radial projections. The upper pair of blades is arranged on the inner, bearing surfaces of an arc-shaped recess of the upper blade carrier which are oriented towards each other, and the lower pair of blades is arranged on a relatively narrow projection on the outer bearing surfaces.

Abstract: A shingle cutting apparatus includes a base, a lever arm pivotally mounted to the base, and a pair of diverging cutting blades mounted to the lever arm. The base includes a shingle-receiving surface upon which a shingle may be positioned for cutting. A pair of grooves are defined in the shingle-receiving surface corresponding to the positions of the cutting blades. In operation, the lever arm is moved downwardly against a shingle, and the cutting blades extend through the shingle and into the corresponding grooves in the base. A ruled back stop and a removable end stop are included to facilitate desired cutting of a shingle. The apparatus may be modified to replace the pair of diverging blades with a single, perpendicular blade for cutting straight-line partial shingles. The apparatus is particularly useful for cutting partial shingles in a variety of widths, and most particularly for cutting the conventional six-sided ridge cap shingle.

Abstract: A portable business card slit cutter includes a base member and cutting member which is rotatably affixed to the base member. A pair of triangular shaped cutting blades are affixed to the cutting member and a corresponding pair of receiving slits are positioned on the base member so that the blades are inserted into the slits when the cutting member is rotated toward the base. When a sheet of paper is positioned on the base member, the blades cut slits in the paper. The blades are spaced apart by an amount so that, when the slits are cut, opposite corners of conventional business card may be inserted into and held by the slits. The slit cutter includes a paper stop for positioning the paper as well as a paper width positioner. The cutting member is affixed to the base by a hinge mechanism and held spaced apart therefrom by springs. The cutting blades are held by Tee shaped carriers which are inserted into Tee shaped carrier slots in the cutting member.

Abstract: A device for punching two parallel narrow slots in a sheet of paper at 45 degrees to one edge of the sheet and spaced apart slightly less than the corner-to-corner diagonal dimension of a card which is to be attached to that sheet by inserting diagonal corner segments into the slots. The slot-punching device has a generally flat base with an adjustable stop. A lever arm pivoted on the base carries two punches with respective narrow blades for reception in the base when the lever arm is lowered. A reciprocable head on top of the lever arm is depressed to push the punch blades down into the base when the lever arm is down.

Abstract: A manually operable paper slitting device has upper and lower platens normally biased apart from one another. The upper platen has diagonally extending and spaced parallel slitting blades extending downwardly therefrom for cooperation with spaced complementary slots formed in the lower platen. A resilient and compressible paper hold down and stripper element extends downwardly from the upper platen in surrounding relationship to the spaced slitting blades. The spaced slitting blades have an inclined bottom cutting edge which first pierces and then permits slitting of the paper along the cooperating slots in the lower platen. The resilient and compressible paper hold down and stripper element holds the paper from moving during and after the slitting operation.

The two upper blades are connected with each other at a right angle on a ram member in a manner such that their shearing edges are originally inclined downward from their intersecting point to their respective free ends. The ram member carrying the upper blades is connected to the machine frame by means of a pivot means which is horizontally disposed higher than the top level of the lower blades. Also, one of the two pairs of upper and lower blades are located outside of the vertical plane of the outer side of the machine frame together with related parts.

The splicing apparatus clamps the veneer strip ends to be joined in longitudinal planar alignment for trimming by two spaced shear knives having parallel cutting planes. Following the shear cut, a reciprocating carriage for one bed knife to which one veneer strip is clamped is withdrawn from the corresponding cutting plane to permit movement of all shear knife structure from between the carriage and the other, fixed position bed knife without retracting the shear knife edges back past the bed knife edges. The reciprocating carriage is then moved along with its corresponding bed knife and clamped veneer strip into abutment with the fixed position bed knife and respective strip edge where lap splice material is laid across the joint and cured in place under heat and pressure.
