  • Patent number: 6997093
Abstract: In order to selectively reinforce portions of a material web, a cutting and laminating device efficiently produces the required reinforcing strips and then laminates them to the web. In order to efficiently and accurately produce these reinforcing strips, a cross web shear is utilized which is capable of cutting required reinforcing strips from the fairly large web of reinforcing material in an accurate manner. Once cut, a holding and positioning device is capable of grabbing onto the reinforcing strip and appropriately positioning it next to the primary material web. A separate laminator can then attach this reinforcing strip to the web at a desired location.

  • Patent number: 6182550
Abstract: A gear drive system for a printer designed to print upon a continuous roll of paper and having a blade used to cut off printed portions of paper from the paper roll is implemented. The gear drive system consists of a drive shaft 330, a slip clutch 401, a clutch gear 116, a drive gear 110, and a staggered gear 112 which controls the paper cutter blade 106. During printing, clutch 401 allows the drive shaft 330 shaft to slip relative to the clutch gear 116. When printing stops, clutch 401 locks clutch gear 116 which is engaged with the first portion of staggered gear 112 and causes staggered gear 112 to rotate until the second portion of staggered gear 112 engages the drive gear 110. Staggered gear 112 is then driven by the drive gear 110. A cutter blade is controlled by staggered gear 112, with the blade cutting off the paper as the drive gear 110 is in reverse rotation.

  • Patent number: 5875771
Abstract: A universally applicable device for guiding the cable of cable saw systems for sawing concrete, brickwork, natural stone, and other masonry products. A bearing plate supports (and attaches) the guide to a base. A support projects upwardly from the bearing plate. A transverse beam ca be fixed at any height on the support. The transverse beam has one or two free ends. A hollow end beam that can be stopped and rotated by 360.degree. around the longitudinal axis of the transverse beam is disposed on each free end of the transverse beam. The end beam carries deflection rollers on which the incoming and outgoing saw cable is guided to the workpiece and to the cable saw, respectively. Each of the rollers are borne in a roller housing that is rotatable by 360.degree. about the longitudinal axis of the end beam. Any cutting planes or flush cuts and all angles to the work piece can therefore be set, without having to perform any substantial changeover procedure for the cable saw between different cutting jobs.

  • Patent number: 5408908
Abstract: A cutting machine for sheet material comprising a frame, a stationary knife on the frame and a reciprocating blade cooperating with the stationary knife. A motor on the frame is connected to a gear reducer that is in turn connected to a single push rod through a crank. The push rod is operatively connected to a torque tube that is connected adjacent its ends by link means to the reciprocating blade. Rotation of the crank by the gear reducer will actuate the single push rod and the torque tube operatively connected thereto to reciprocate the reciprocating blade. Spring means for assisting movement of the reciprocating blade are readily adjusted from exterior of the frame of the cutting machine. A rotatable cam follower on the reciprocating blade engages a guide block on the frame for moving the reciprocating blade into proper cooperative engagement with the stationary knife in use.

  • Patent number: 4748884
Abstract: The invention provides a cutting assembly for cutting a moving strip of thin flexible material across its width, avoiding the possibility that the flexibility of the material will permit it to move away from the knife edge and not be cut, or be cut unevenly. The assembly comprises a knife-supporting member which is engaged with the moving strip and displaces it out of its usual path close to a roll in the path, so that a very short length of the strip is between two contacting members in the path adjacent to the knife. The knife is provided along its length with a plurality of distributed strip-engaging points pointing in the direction opposite to its direction of movement, which are moved into engagement with this short supported length of the strip, so that the strip movement drives it onto the points, and thereafter continues the movement of the strip into positive engagement with the succeeding knife edges.
