The load sensor senses the weight of the slices as each slice is dropped onto the surface and provides a signal to the controller. The controller determines from the signal a measured combined weight of a number of slices less than the total number of slices and then a target thickness for a next slice to be added to the stack of slices based on the measured combined weight.

Abstract: A dicing apparatus according to a first aspect of the present invention is featured by including: a work table on which a work is mounted; a processing device which processes the work; an imaging device which images the work on the work table; a plurality of moving device which move the work table, the processing device, and the imaging device relatively to each other; and an alignment camera which is provided on the same moving device as the work table so as to face the imaging device, and which performs imaging in the direction toward the portion where the imaging device is provided. According to the dicing apparatus configured in this way, it is possible to easily measure the relative position of the imaging device and the processing device without processing a dummy work, and it is possible to perform excellent dicing processing without lowering the efficiency of the dicing apparatus.

Abstract: A method and apparatus provide for continuous automatic cutting of a web of material wherein the web has a web anomaly that prevents the web from lying flat and straight. The web anomalies include when a web has a non-zero Gaussian curvature and/or when the web or roll of material follows an arc when the roll is unrolled onto a flat surface. These web anomalies may be justified through use of computer controlled cutters that correct the motion trajectory of the cutter relative to the web and also by means of distortions to the support surface upon which the cutting of the web is to occur.

Abstract: A sheet processing apparatus comprises a first conveyer roller pair and a second conveyer roller pair arranged sequentially from the upstream side to the downstream side along a sheet conveyance route of a sheet of paper along with a punching unit disposed between the first and second conveyer roller pairs. The punching unit includes a hole cutting blade that is capable of retractably projecting the hole cutting blade relative to the sheet conveyance route so as to control the position of the hole cutting blade of the punching unit according to the condition of the sheet of paper being conveyed. The apparatus further comprises a control unit adapted to cause the hole cutting blade to project across the sheet conveyance route before the leading end of the sheet of paper being conveyed gets to the punching unit so as to make the leading end of the sheet of paper abut the hole cutting blade and correct the skew, if any, of the sheet of paper.

Abstract: A dual function binding machine for making journal notebooks at home includes a hole punching mechanism and a binding mechanism. A punch die includes a plurality of rectangular punch teeth in a graduated configuration to minimize the amount of force required to penetrate through the journal book materials. A guide provides different positions for punching through covers, inner pages and continuous punching of both. This allows the perfect alignment and fit of the outside covers with the inside pages. A spring biased lever operates the punch die in a horizontal direction. The binding mechanism included in the same machine has a vertical outer vise wall that is horizontally movable to compress the binding material to the pages and covers of the journal notebook.

Abstract: A hole punch unit has a punching section, a longitudinal registering mechanism, and a transverse registering mechanism. The registering mechanisms incline the punching section in accordance with a skew of a sheet. The punching section thus corrected in position punches the sheet. The punching section is corrected in position, at both the leading edge of the sheet and the trailing edge thereof, thus increasing the precision of positioning the punching section and shortening the time required to position the punching section.
