  • Patent number: 8910550
Abstract: A printer according to the present invention includes a recording unit that makes recording on recording paper, a cutter unit that has a movable cutter edge to cut the recording paper, and a containing portion that receives recorded matter, which is the recorded paper cut by the cutter unit. Further, the printer includes a cut piece collecting portion that collects cut pieces, which are recording paper cut by the cutter unit, and a cut piece collecting portion cover that opens/closes in conjunction with a cutting operation of the cutter unit. The recording paper cut by the cutter unit is collected by a cut piece collecting portion if the cut piece collecting portion cover is in an open state and is made movable to the containing portion if the cut piece collecting portion cover is in a closed state. Further, the cut piece collecting portion cover performs one opening/closing operation for a predetermined number of cutting operations.

  • Patent number: 6361639
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an index divider sheet assembly adapted for feeding into ink jet printers and the like for a printing operation on the sheet body and/or the index tab of the assembly. The assembly includes a divider sheet having a tab extending out of one edge and a reinforced binding edge flap. The divider sheet can be manufactured from ink jet receptive top-coated white cardstock. A guide strip along the tab edge assists the assembly being fed and passing through the printer despite the presence of the tab. The binding edge flap is folded over onto the body of the sheet and held thereon to reduce the width dimension of the assembly so that it can be fed into and passed through the printer. After passing through the printer, the guide strip is removed and the flap is unfolded.

Abstract: An implantable medical device such as a defibrillator is described. The device includes an hermetically sealed housing containing a flat electrolytic capacitor and an energy source such as a battery. The battery is connected to the capacitor and provides charge thereto. The capacitor stores the charge at a relatively high voltage. • Patent number: 5957019
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting apparatus for cutting out at least one strip from a roll with rolled up sheet like material. The apparatus is equipped with finger means which lift out a suitable distance from the roll the layer from which the strip will be cut out. A cutting tool means is placed near each finger means in order to cut through the material. Each cutting tool means is a motordriven, rotating blade driven with a peripheral speed which is considerably higher than the speed with which the cutting apparatus is moved along the roll, or an oscillating knife or the like. During the cutting out operation the cut out strip is rolled up on a rotating roll core means with a torque-adapted rotation. A strip-tensioning arrangement distributes the tensile forces from the rotating roll core means to the strip at the middle of the width of the strip and is placed at the middle of the width of the strip between the cutting tool means and the roll core means.

  • Patent number: 4836070
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing fibrous web pieces by die cutting the pieces from a continuous web. In the method, a fibrous web is provided having adjacent corrugations usually filled with a powder, and the powder-filled web is passed through a matched cutting die set intermittently which cuts and punches out the individual web pieces. Following the web cut out step, the web pieces are transferred downwardly onto a shuttle conveyor, and the pieces moved forward and simultaneously spread apart to permit subsequent convenient placement of the pieces. The cutting die apparatus includes matched punch and body die units which closely interfit with less than about 0.001 inch total clearance, so as to cut and punch out the fibrous web pieces from the continuous web.

The apparatus includes a table top and a frame supporting the table top. The front portion of the table top is supported for limited vertical displacement by rollers on opposite sides of the table engaged in horizontal track sections of vertically displaceable tracks interposed between the table top and the frame. The rear portion of the table top is separately supported by reciprocating rear table supports on opposite sides of the table top, the rear table supports being guided for vertical displacement in vertical ways provided on opposite sides of the frame. The table top is displaceable downwardly in response to downward movement of the movable shear blade, and is tiltable rearwardly after initial downward displacement by reason of the rear table supports being allowed greater downward displacement than the rollers supporting the front portion of the table top.

  • Patent number: 4180893
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting segments from a strip of film and for mounting the segments in reusable fixtures. Each segment is severed from the strip and mounted in a single cycle of operation of the apparatus. A cutting die is provided with a nonlinear symmetrical cutting edge lying in a die cutting plane. A punch is provided with a bottom surface substantially the size of a segment. The cutting plane of the punch has a linear punch cutting edge formed at the intersection of the bottom surface and the punch cutting plane, and the punch is mounted in cutting relationship with the die. Positioning means position the strip so that a boundary between segments lies in the die cutting plane. As the punch moves toward the die and a fixture located below the die, a segment is severed from the strip by the cutting action of the punch and die cutting edges which co-operate to minimize the forces applied to the segment tending to change the orientation of the segment to the punch.
