Abstract: A paper cassette is provided with a first guide groove and a second guide groove. In these guide grooves, first and second cutter blades are respectively arranged. The first cutter blade is separated from a guide face of the first guide groove by a length L1. A recording paper is moved along the first guide groove under a condition that an edge of the recording paper abuts on the guide face. In this way, a right margin of the recording paper having a width L1 is cut off by the first cutter blade. Similarly, a left margin of the recording paper is cut off by the first cutter blade. Top and bottom margins of the recording paper are cut off with the second cutter blade by moving the recording paper along the second guide groove.
Abstract: A simplified mortising adapter for converting a conventional radial arm saw, or other power tool having an arbor, into a mortising tool. The adapter includes a base plate and a drive spindle rotatably mounted to the base plate for connecting to the radial arm saw or other power tool's arbor and driving a chain saw adjustably attached to the base plate. The drive spindle has a socket having a characteristic shape which is generally complementary to the shape of the arbor so that those components can be drivingly engaged. The adapter also includes a clamp mechanism for clamping the base plate to the power tool in a manner such that the base plate can be adjusted to concentrically align the drive spindle with the arbor when the base plate is clamped to the power tool.

Abstract: A side-by-side material feed system is provided for feeding two dissimilar strips of material. The material is fed along parallel feed paths by first and second material feeders which move the material toward respective cutters. The operation of the feeders and the cutters is controlled by a programmable controller which permits each of the material strips to be fed and cut to form pieces of predetermined length which may be removed by an operator or conveyed to a subsequent station for further processing. In a further embodiment of the invention, the feeders are movable relative to a work station comprising a cutter associated with a common feed path extending between the cutter and a sewing apparatus. As each of the feeders is aligned with the work station, a predetermined length of material may be cut off by the cutter and conveyed along the common feed path to the sewing station.
Abstract: An auxiliary transport device for sending out workpieces sewn on an elastic tape by a sewing machine is composed of front and rear rollers and a belt transmission device, and a cutter between the rollers, and one of the rollers is rotated and driven in synchronism with the sewing machine. A belt of the belt transmission device transmits the rotation of one roller to the other roller and works to transport the workpieces while pressing and flattening them on the cloth feed surface, and prevents the end of workpieces from curling up due to shrinkage of the tape when the tape is cut, thereby leading the end smoothly to the rear roller.
Abstract: A device which trims off the perforated margin strips of printer paper and cuts the paper transversely to separate it into individual pages. The paper which discharges from the printer is drawn around a tension bar and is applied to a toothed belt driven by feed wheels. Cutter wheels act against a grooved roller to cut along the tear lines of the margin strips. A photocell based counting system counts the perforations which pass the photocell to indicate each time the paper is advanced to position one of the transverse fold lines at a cutting station. Then, the paper is stopped and a cutter wire is pulled through the fold line to separate the leading page from the rest of the paper sheet. Each time a new sheet of paper is loaded, a special control circuit assures that the initial advance of the sheet stops with the leading edge of the paper at the cutting station.
Abstract: A device includes a driving device for driving an upper shaft. A moving blade is connected to the driving device via a clutch mechanism so as to be rotated by the driving device during on-condition of the clutch mechanism. A stationary blade cuts a thread held by a holding member in cooperation with the moving blade. A detecting device stops driving of the driving device based on a signal indicating the terminating of the moving blade while the moving blade and the driving device are connected. A range detecting device detects the rotation range of the upper shaft when the driving device is stopped based on a signal from the detecting device. A restarting device restarts the driving device based on a signal from the range detecting device.
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for making a piped opening in a garment are disclosed. Two collinear cuts are made in the piping strip at a preparation station. The cut piping strip is then transferred to a sewing machine table where the piping is laid onto a piece of fabric. Then, the incision for making the garment opening is cut through both the piping strip and fabric. The piping strip is then folded through the incision and the two collinear cuts in the piping cooperate to prevent bulges from forming in the ultimately formed piped opening in the garment.
Abstract: Glass scoring machines for breaking glass along the lines of intricate patterns employing an intermittent feed dog glass advancing mechanism beneath the glass and a spring loaded glass scoring tool supported above the glass. Optionally includes a tapping device for periodically striking the scored glass to facilitate subsequent breaking along the scored line. May also be practiced as a sewing machine attachment for scoring or cutting glass or like material by selectively utilizing sewing machine mechanism without adversely affecting the normal operation of the sewing machine upon removal of the attachment.
Abstract: A thread-cutting device comprises a rod provided with a head portion defining an inner circular stop having a cutting edge, each side of which interfaces a slider member, the slider members being concentrically mounted on the rod. A thread introduced between the head and the end of the slider member in contact with the head is retained between the head and the end of the slider member while it passes over the stop and is cut.
Abstract: A system for the production of dipped taper candles, including an overhead conveyor system supporting mobile carrier racks for formation of the candles in suspended relation from the rack, and including a wicking station for providing rows of candle wicks in generally tensioned suspended relation from a carrier rack, a dipping station for automatically dipping said wicks on the rack through a predetermined number of dipping cycles, a cutoff station for cutting off the bases including the wick tensioning weights of the candles suspended from the carrier rack, a butt forming station for heat forming the cut butt ends of candles suspended from the carrier rack, and a cut down station for expeditiously cutting down the carrier rack rows of the candles formed on the candle wicks and for collecting the same for further processing. The invention also provides a novel method of producing plysically uniform candles in mass production batches.

Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a piped opening for use in a garment and an apparatus for making the opening. The piped opening comprises corresponding die-cut slits or cuts formed in the front and facing portion of a garment with the flap or flaps defined thereby being reversely folded inwardly of the respective front and facing portions to define a corresponding opening therein. An edging patch having a complementary slit or cut and reversely folded patch flaps is secured to one of the portions with the patch flaps positioned contiguous to corresponding flaps of the adjacent portion to form a partially piped opening. The front and facing portions are then reversely folded to dispose the edging patch therebetween with the respective openings defined in each, disposed in coaxial alignment.
