Abstract: A trimming tool for trimming drawn parts over their complete periphery and for the simultaneous transverse cutting of the waste strip which has been cut off achieves complete and fragment-free transverse cutting of the waste strip by way of a low-maintenance, reliable tool which does not limit the space for introducing and removing the workpiece. The transverse cutting takes place by rectilinear further motion of a transverse cutter integrated in a fixed location in the upper tool. Its shear edge is freed in ample time by a controlled escape motion of a make-up cutter. The make-up cutter permits a complete and clean trim cut to be carried out on the workpiece and also permits the shear edge of the transverse cutter to extend right up to the trim shear edge. Because of the rectilinear downward motion of the transverse cutter, the waste strip is also sheared off cleanly and without cracks as far as the innermost trim cut edge.

Abstract: The apparatus for cutting the string ties of products carried on pallet-like supports has at least one cutting unit with a transverse beam arranged above a line for the conveyance of the pallet-like supports so as to be slideable in a direction which is longitudinal to the conveyance line. The unit is moved at a speed equal to the advancement speed of the pallets. Two trucks are slideably mounted on the transverse beam and support a pair of vertically slideable arms. The arms have a cutting element, for automatically locating the string tie to be cut, and an opposite element for gripping the string tie, which cooperates with the cutting element. Rollers for removing the cut string tie cooperate with the gripping element.

  • Patent number: 5267496
Abstract: A hydraulically actuated tire cutter includes a first conveyor belt which loads a tire into a tire cutting position between a fixed plate, a moving plate and a plurality of adjustable bars. Twelve corresponding pairs of gripping jaws project from the fixed and moving plate. The gripping jaws have a saw tooth edge. Each pair of gripping jaws of the fixed and moving plate are in registration with one another to compress the tire until one of the tire's beads essentially touches the other. Twelve blades attached to a blade plate are hydraulically actuated to pass through a passage in the moving plate and the fixed plate to radially cut the tire. After the tire has been cut, a second conveyor belt removes the pieces of tire from the bottom portion of the tire cutter.

  • Patent number: 5235888
Abstract: A tire cutting machine that cuts the sidewalls from passenger car tires. The cutting operation is performed on both sidewalls simultaneously. The inner side of the tire tread rests on two rollers so that the tread becomes the reference point for the cutting blades. The tire tread is brought into contact with a drive wheel positioned on the outside of the tire tread and opposite one of the rollers on the inner side of the tire tread. The drive wheel causes the tire to rotate in a vertical plane. Two cutting blades (one on each side of the tire) are brought into contact with the sidewalls to sever them from the tread. As the cutting blades move towards the sidewalls, guide rollers move in unison with the cutting blades to center the tire between the blades and keep the tire centered as the sidewalls are cut.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for making and transferring shells for cans within a ram press. The shells are formed in a two-step operation in which shell preforms are formed at a first station within the press and then transferred to second station where they are formed into completed shells. The first station includes first and second rows of tooling sets with the tooling sets of the first row being located in alternating transverse positions relative to the tooling sets of the second row. Similarly, the second station includes third and fourth rows of tooling sets in which the tooling set of the third row are located in alternating transverse positions relative to the tooling sets of the fourth row, and the tooling sets of the third and fourth rows are located for receiving the shell preforms from the tooling sets of the second and first rows, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5033374
Abstract: The machine has a containment box which holds the material to be compacted. The material is advanced through the containment box by a pivoted inlet wall of the containment box which is acted upon by a fluid actuated cylinder. Two compaction stations are arranged in series inside the containment box to achieve two successive compactions of the material. Each compaction station has an L-shaped presser element which is provided to the containment box and which oscillates under the action of a fluid actuated cylinder. The L-shaped presser element oscillates between a non-working position, and a working position in which the volume inside the compaction station is decreased to compact the material. Guillotine shears are arranged after the compaction stations to cut the compacted material.

  • Patent number: 4967626
Abstract: A mechanism for cutting a tire carcass into small sections for disposal. An array of adjoining female die sections has knife edges forming the sides of each die and shearing sections forming the corners of each die. Matching, shearing fit male punches opposingly face each die and material clasping anvils extend through each die facing the punches. A tire carcass is placed between the anvils and the punches. The anvils and punches are actuated against each other clamping the tire carcass. Punch pressure overrides the opposing anvil pressure, driving the combination of anvil, carcass and punch through the die. The forward extending knife edges penetrate the rubber of the carcass, shearing the rubber as the carcass is held taut between the anvils and the punches. The punches then proceed through the die, shearing the reinforcing cords against the corner shearing sections. The clamping action of the anvils and punches substantially prevents the carcass from escaping the cutter.

  • Patent number: 4914994
Abstract: An apparatus for removing the bead wires from a scrap tire having a pair of overlapping and counterrotating shearing members mounted on a movable carriage. The carriage provides reciprocating motion to the shearing members between two shearing work stations. While shearing action takes place at a first work station a scrap tire is fed into the adjacent work station, whereafter the bead wires of the scrap tire are first elongated and then compressed into overlying adjacent positions. Advancement of the shearing members into the tire produces a first tire shear that is at least closely tangential to the bead wires. When the pinch point of the shearing members is proximate the bead wires forward movement of the carriage is ceased. However, the tire is caused to rotate about its axis by the shearing members to produce a second shear that is substantially concentric with the bead wires, the first and second shears being a single continuous motion.

Abstract: Apparatus for quickly and effectively removing the bead wires from tires, and comprising first and second clamps which are movable toward and away from each other. A tire to be debeaded is positioned between the two clamps with the axis of the tire parallel with the direction of movement of the clamps. A harpoon is mounted for movement parallel to the axis of the tire and through openings of the clamps and the tire. The first and second clamps hold the tire between them, the clamps engaging the side walls of the tire. The harpoon is moves through the center opening of the tire, and barbs or hooks formed on the harpoon engage the beads and pull the bead wires out of the tire. The movement of the harpoon in one direction operates to center the tire, and movement in the opposite direction operates to remove the bead wires.
