  • Patent number: 7915507
Abstract: A pliable and resilient mounting grommet, forced into deployment in a cymbal aperture, is secured to a cymbal, rather than to the cymbal support rod, and includes a reduced diameter neck residing in the cymbal aperture. The cymbal and grommet may be removed as a unit from a support rod and placed on another support rod. A non-metal rigid washer may be permanently bonded to the bottom surface of the grommet to prevent the grommet from slipping down along the support rod. The grommet may be interiorly reinforced with strengthening material at the neck portion. A thumbscrew having a soft bottom portion may be used to tighten the cymbal in place.

  • Patent number: 7906718
Abstract: A drum and drum stand coupler comprises a first coupler and a second coupler that respectively surround the circumference of a drum shell at an upper side and a lower side. The first and second couplers have respectively an adjustment slot on the left and right sides run through by a transverse fastener to couple to a longitudinal fastener of a drum. The coupler also includes a distance adjustment means to couple longitudinally the first and second couplers. The distance adjustment means includes a first guiding member and a second guiding member that are coupled in an up and down manner and staggered on the outer side and inner side, and run through by at least one fastening element to be fastened together. Thus multiple drums with varying heights can mate drum shells with different specifications. The distance adjustment means also has a fixture to couple with a drum stand.

In one embodiment, the drum lug has a socket, which engages a ball stud that is attached to the drum shell. The tension rods extend through holes in the drum rim and screw into the drum lugs. When tension rods are loosened it is easy to remove drum lugs because of the ball and socket connection. The ball and socket connection can take numerous other forms.

Abstract: A positioning device for a cymbal has a bracket, a clamp, a cymbal supporting assembly, two friction pads and a primary adjusting assembly. The bracket has a stationary clamping member. The clamp is mounted movably on the bracket and has a movable clamping member. The cymbal supporting assembly is mounted pivotally between the stationary clamping member of the bracket and the movable clamping member and has a friction wheel and a cymbal supporting rod. One of the friction pads is mounted between the stationary clamping member and one side of the friction wheel. The other friction pad is mounted between the movable clamping member and the other side of the friction wheel. The friction pads selectively presses respectively against the sides of the friction wheel of the cymbal supporting assembly. The positioning device with the friction pads precisely sets the angular position of the cymbal.

Abstract: An adjustable, foldable support leg for a bass drum has a cylindrical leg member movable longitudinally within a tubular leg member. A threaded portion of the tubular member includes apertures in which ball bearings are located. The bearings are retained in the apertures by an annular locking collar which is also threaded to allow the collar to move longitudinally on the tubular member as the collar is turned. The locking collar has an interior frustoconical surface. When the collar moves downwardly on the tubular member, this surface presses the ball bearings against the cylindrical member, locking the leg members in place. A mounting bracket includes a pin about which the folding leg pivots and a channel which receives the inner end of the leg. The leg is biased against the floor of the channel which includes detents to receive the end of the leg in the folded and extended positions.
