Patent number: 5756914Abstract: A finger exerciser is disclosed for use to train and strengthen the finger mechanics of a musician on a stringed musical instrument such as a guitar. The string tension is adjustable to provide a variation in tension for the fingers to displace the strings. The end saddles are also adjustable in height to vary the distance between the strings and the fretboard. A removable handle is used to facilitate holding the device thus providing an unobstructed finger manipulation of the strings. Various fret boards which are interchangeable on to the neck of the invention and include flat and scalloped fret boards. In addition, the invention with a scalloped fretboard which is continuous with the neck is also disclosed. The spacing of the flat fretboard is provided by removable frets on the fretboard, thus varying the spacing there between to simulate various sections of the neck of a stringed musical instrument such as a guitar.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1995Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Inventor: Markus Streibl

Patent number: 5744737Abstract: A muscle control development system for developing selected hand, wrist and arm muscles of a user includes first and second rimless pads formed of a resilient, elastically deformable material. The first pad is a pancake pad having a relatively thin profile and having a thickness to diameter ratio of about 0.04. The pancake pad is configured to absorb a relatively small amount of force exerted thereon by a drumstick and to exhibit a relatively large rebound therefrom. The second pad is a biscuit pad having a larger thickness profile than the pancake pad, and having a thickness to diameter ratio in a range of about 0.20 to about 0.30. The biscuit pad is configured to absorb a relatively larger amount of force exerted thereon than the pancake pad and to exhibit a lesser rebound therefrom. The system includes a pea pad exerciser formed of the resilient material, and configured for placement between the user's fingers and thumb for exercising selected muscles.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Inventor: Darryl Carter

Patent number: 4776323Abstract: A biofeedback system to train an exerciser while he carries out athletic activity in which his arm or feet members move rhythmically, the system translating this movement into an audible musical rhythm which makes it possible for the exerciser to being his activity into harmony with a musical rhythm conducive to optimal conditions of exercise. The system includes a compact electronic music synthesizer having a settable rhythm section, the output of the system being fed to a headset worn by the exerciser so that the music heard by the exerciser has a beat determined by the setting. The arm or feet members having sensors attached thereto which yield pulses whose rate is determined by the movement of these members, the pulses being applied to the rhythm section to control the beat setting of the music so that it is in synchronism with the movement of the members.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1987Date of Patent: October 11, 1988Inventor: Donald Spector

Patent number: 4739689Abstract: A player's finger rest for the body of a guitar, or the like, includes a slide having a slideway oriented generally along the length of the strings, and a pivotable finger lever supported on a pivot shaft which is movable along the slideway, whereby the finger lever may be moved to a desired position along the slideway and may be pivoted to a desired orientation with respect to the slideway. A nut is tightened down over the pivotable finger support and presses the finger support against a resilient washer which is pressed against the slide. This locks the finger support against being movable along the slideway and also prevents pivoting of the finger support. However, sufficient pressure applied to the finger support will overcome the inhibition to pivoting of the finger support which is normally provided by the resilient element.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1987Date of Patent: April 26, 1988Assignees: Thomas Cacioppo, Tony Karl, Jr.Inventors: Tom Cacioppo, Tony Karl, Jr.
