Patent number: 11885051Abstract: Systems and methods for forming a tubular braid are disclosed here-in. A braiding system configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, an upper drive unit, a lower drive unit, a mandrel coaxial with the upper and lower drive units, and a plurality of tubes extending between the upper drive unit and the lower drive unit. Each tube can be configured to receive individual filaments for forming the tubular braid, and the upper and lower drive units can act in synchronization to move the tubes (and the filaments contained within those tubes) in three distinct motions: (i) radially inward toward a central axis, (ii) radially outward away from the central axis, and (iii) rotationally about the central axis, to cross the filaments over and under one another to form the tubular braid on the mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2018Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Inceptus Medical, LLCInventors: Richard Quick, John Coleman Thress, Greg Ulrich

Patent number: 11566355Abstract: A braiding apparatus includes a platform, a base plate, a core unit, a transmission unit, a track assembly, and strand carriers. The track assembly is divided into two braiding track groups each provided with transmission discs. The transmission discs of both braiding track groups are sequentially connected to define two braiding routes. The strand carriers shuttle on both braiding routes respectively and incessantly. Two intersection points are defined when the two braiding routes intersect. Accordingly, carrier strands fed by the strand carriers are wound around a core strand fed by the core unit while shuttling incessantly and are interwoven with each other while passing through the two intersection points during the incessant shuttling motion, thereby wrapping a multi-convolutional braided layer around the core strand to complete a rope. Each convolution of the braided layer has two crossing points, which increases the practicability of the rope.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2021Date of Patent: January 31, 2023Inventor: Ming-Cheng Chen

Patent number: 10604892Abstract: A string, rope, or strap with repetitively spaced openings/flexible eyelets from bifurcated braiding or weaving, or from cutting and sealing. The bifurcated openings are preferably created from a single rope or strap that is subsequently braided or weaved into two strings, ropes, or straps and then back into one. The frequent and periodic placement of these eyelets on the string, rope, or strap, allows the user to easily tie down items. The rope or strap is flexible enough to pull it in on its self, through its eyelets. The ends of the string, rope, or strap are finished into a hard tip.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2017Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Inventors: John Stephen Caliri, Joseph Mark Caliri
