    Abstract: A device for producing a braided sheath around an elongate object. The device has a warp thread frame which rotates in a warp thread rotation direction about a machine axis and has a group of warp thread bobbins, and the device has a group of bobbin carriers which rotate in the opposite direction about the machine axis and each have at least one weft thread bobbin. At least one warp thread is guided from each warp thread bobbin to a braiding point and at least one weft thread is guided from each weft thread bobbin to the braiding point. The course of the warp thread can be shifted alternately above and below the weft thread rotating past in the opposite direction via a laying means. The device has a bobbin carrier support which rotates with the warp thread frame in the warp thread rotation direction during operation.

    Abstract: A braiding machine comprises a frame, a plurality of rotors on the frame and rotatable about rotor axes arranged about a braiding axis, drive gears for rotating adjacent ones of the rotors in opposite directions, and a plurality of strand shuttles which are driven by the rotors along a sinuous path in a given direction about the braiding axis. Adjacent ones of said rotors have transfer points for sequentially transferring a shuttle from a preceding rotor to a succeeding rotor with respect to the direction of the path, and the rotors and shuttle include interengaging retaining and escapement members by which the shuttle is moved with the preceding rotor toward the transfer point and then with the succeeding rotor away from the transfer point.

    Abstract: A rotary braiding machine interweaves strands to form a braid for a work piece, such as a hydraulic hose or the like. A frame has a central axis about which strands of fiber are braided. Inner bobbin-carrier assemblies and outer bobbin-carrier assemblies are carried circumferentially on the frame. The inner bobbin-carrier assemblies are rotatably supported by the frame radially outwardly of the central axis, are separated by recesses, and each supports a strand supply bobbin. Each of the inner bobbin-carrier assemblies has an inner tensioning and control assembly to pay-out a first strand of one or more fibers from its bobbin and to position the first strand in substantially perpendicular relation to the central axis of the frame. The outer bobbin-carrier assemblies are rotatably supported by the frame radially outwardly of the central axis and of the inner array of strand supply bobbins.

The guide members act to control the yarns of the rotating yarn supply to be selectively positioned to pass above or below the cones carrying the stationary yarns so that the yarns interlace in a desired manner.

    Abstract: A braiding machine of the maypole form having co-acting horngear assemblies positioned in a cylindrical housing and arranged to drive spool carriers along a double undulating and intersecting drive track groove as groups in opposed directions. The form of the groove is such as to avoid discontinuities both in normal and in tangential components of acceleration forces on the spool carriers. Drive is transmitted from the horngear assemblies to the spool carriers by drive forks each carried on a pivot shaft mounted for oscillating rotation through restricted arc on the respective horngear assembly. Oscillating rotation of the drive forks is effected by a cam follower arrangement engaging a cam track such that the drive forks propel the spool carriers along the guide track groove with constant or substantially constant linear velocity.
