Movable Chamber Type (e.g., Revolver, Etc.) Patents (Class 89/155)
  • Patent number: 4102241
Abstract: A rifle mechanism that will automatically fire, from a single barrel, a te-round burst at approximately 4,900 shots per minute (spm) without the use of a round counter, is disclosed. The rifle mechanism includes a cam and follower mechanism. The cam path controls the basic function of the rifle system to obtain the highest rate of fire with minimum operating rod velocities and to provide the ability to fire the three-round bursts without a round counter. The three rounds are loaded simultaneously into a chamber and the chamber is indexed to fire out each round before extraction. This eliminates the need for a full stroke cartridge handling mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4050174
Abstract: A revolver pistol which ejects the spent cartridge after each shot. The gun block is fitted with an open side port. The recoil of the cartridge during firing drives back the hammer and breechblock, with the cartridge ejecting through the open port. The breechblock is spring-biased to return forwards and index the revolver cylinder on the forward stroke, with the hammer remaining in the rear position until released by the trigger mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4024793
Abstract: A clamp and wedge attachment to fixed and moving components frictionally ages the components which become disengageable upon application of overriding forces. The wedge has an enlarged detachable loading end which fits between two tines of the clamp which acts as flexure springs. This structure eliminates the slide bounce problem encountered in adapting the M39, 20MM Automatic Revolver Cannon to a constant recoil mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 3954042
Abstract: A firearm, particularly a compact weapon for firing caseless ammunition, comprises a support having a handle and a firing trigger adjacent the handle connected to a firing mechanism in the butt preferably for firing caseless ammunition. A plurality of barrels are arranged in parallel relationship on the support and a magazine is rotatably mounted on the support between the support and the butt which is pivoted at the end of the support. The magazine includes a plurality of radially spaced circumferentially extending rows of cartridge receiving bores which are aligned with the respective barrels and adapted to be indexed into association with each barrel. The magazine includes means for sealing the bores during the firing of the cartridge and for permitting the passage of the pressure gases to a control bore having a control piston therein which is movable by the combustion gases to index the magazine during each firing.
