Furthermore, the elastomeric middle layer becomes more rigid during a brief period in which it absorbs energy from the projectile, then again becomes elastic in a manner formative of a membrane covering the rigid inner layer. The elastomeric membrane tempers leakage if rupturing of the rigid inner layer has occurred.

    Abstract: A transparent assembly locatable in a building surface having a rebate is described. The assembly has a transparent panel and one or more high tensile strength flexible material reinforcement pieces extending laterally from the panel to provide non-rigid attachment of the assembly to a subframe and/or wall, wherein the attachment allows movement of the assembly within the rebate. By direct but non-rigid attachment of the transparent assembly, generally a window, to the subframe and/or wall, any weakness in the impact-resistance of the assembly because of weakness and/or damage to the frame is avoided. The non-rigid nature of the attachment allows it to absorb much of the blast loading. This allows a large load on the transparent assembly to be supported by the subframe and/or wall. The present invention also provides a number of ballistic-resistant and blast-resistant assemblies providing protection against much higher levels of protection from high velocity weapons and explosives.

    Abstract: The adjustable louvered armor window system invention comprises angled louvers made of the lightweight opaque armor. For the front window a viewing window of ballistic glass can be installed, the rear or sides could be solid armor. The louvers have overlaps to provide for gap protection. When no threat is present, the louvers are in the full open position. Once a threat is detected, then the louvers are closed. The movement of the louvers can be accomplished by a push/pull cable, hydraulic pressure, air pressure or other means. The system in the fully open position allows for a complete unobstructed viewing area. In the semi-deployed or partial down position, the system provides partial ballistic coverage for the occupant, and still allows for some occupant vision capability. In the fully deployed, or fully closed position, the system provides full ballistic coverage for the occupant, with a small viewing area or port, which is made of ballistic grade transparent armor.

    Abstract: A perforating gun loading bay includes a loading area and a separate gun component storage area. The perforating gun loading area also includes racks and a table that permit an in-line loading operation such that the gun housing and loaded gun need not be moved out of a linear path from introduction to the bay to unloading from the bay. The racks and the table may be position in axial alignment and may include low friction members to permit axial sliding motion along the racks and the table. A method for using the loading bay permits in-line handling. A perforating gun loading table includes low friction members permitting axial movement of perforating gun components therealong and low friction members permitting rotational movement of perforating gun components along their long axis. The perforating gun loading table includes a control system for selecting the low friction member that is positioned to engage the perforating gun component on the table.

    Abstract: Fixed weapon emplacements include ballistic weapon stands having heights sufficient to protect standing gunners in combination with tripods, which are fixed thereto with welded connections. In a first embodiment, the tripod has two legs fixed to a weapon platform and to the base of the ballistic weapons stand and a third leg fixed to the weapon platform and to a weld plate on a front armor plate of the stand. In a second embodiment, the third leg of the tripod is provided by a strut that extends through a slot in the front armor plate and is welded to both a weld plate behind the front armor plate and to the weapon platform. In a third embodiment, the tripod has one leg fixed to the base of the weapon stand and two legs welded to a weld plate behind the front armor panel to support the weapon platform.
