Patent number: 7225719Abstract: A distributing valve for a speed governor of a turbine is provided, the distributing valve having a structure to reliably vent air therefrom. The distributing valve is disposed such that the direction of movement of a plunger is horizontal, with air vent valves being provided at the highest portion of each of ports of the distributing valve, to facilitate reliable venting of air out of a pressure oil system. Also provided is a structure of the distributing valve to facilitate machining or assembly of the distributing valve.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2005Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventor: Hideaki Imai

Patent number: 5832806Abstract: A positioning system uses a position feedback signal to position and damp a platform. The position feedback signal is input to an electronic controller that provides a plurality of control signal that are used to position the platform and dampen the platform motion.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Technical Manufacturing CorporationInventor: Peter G. Patent number: 5584224Abstract: An hydraulic lift system has an actuator connected to an hydraulic circuit, having a pump, via a supply line. A balanced seated valve is connected between the supply line and a reservoir, the valve being controlled by a solenoid and an electric drive unit. The drive unit supplies a gradually increasing or decreasing voltage to the solenoid to open or close the valve gradually. The valve has a valve member that is displaceable along its length and has a valve head of frusto-conical shape. A passage along the valve member balances fluid pressure across the valve member. The solenoid has an armature with a pole face that can be displaced towards a fixed pole face to unseat the valve member. The pole faces have complementary frusto-conical surfaces and there is a non-magnetic washer between them.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Smiths Industries Public Limited CompanyInventors: Anthony R. Patent number: 5481959Abstract: An automatic air balancer system capable of maintaining various kinds of load at a predetermined position and then moving the load at a desired speed, or applying a desired mechanical force to various kinds of object. The system includes a device for controlling the pressure at one end side of a balance cylinder to a desired level by a first pressure control valve and for controlling the pressure at the other end side of the balance cylinder to a predetermined level by a second pressure control valve, and a device for obtaining a balance pressure signal for the balance cylinder. Another signal is added to or subtracted from the balance pressure signal, and the resulting signal is input to the first pressure control valve.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1994Date of Patent: January 9, 1996Assignee: SMC CorporationInventors: Masayuki Watanabe, Nobuhiro Fujiwara, Kunihisa Kaneko, Kenji Kanazawa

Patent number: 5073091Abstract: A rotary hydraulic machine which includes a housing having a shaft mounted for rotation within the housing about a shaft axis. A cylidner block is coupled to the shaft for co-rotation with the shaft within the housing and includes a plurality of cylinders disposed in a circumferential array parallel to and surrounding the shaft axis. A piston is disposed to reciprocate within each of the cylinders and is coupled to a yoke for determining displacement of the pistons within the cylinders. A valve plate is mounted on a valve block and includes kidney-shaped slots for registering with the cylinders as the cylinder block rotates, and thereby connecting the cylinders to pump input and output ports. A microprocessor-based controller is externally mounted on the pump valve block and includes internal memory having various remotely-selectable control programs prestored therein.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1989Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Assignee: Vickers, IncorporatedInventors: Roy T. Patent number: 3976389Abstract: A pressure gas engine in which pressurized gas such as air is supplied to a series of arcuately arranged nozzles for exhausting into a series of arcuately arranged impulse buckets thereby causing rotation of a rotor in which the buckets are located, each nozzle having an exit adjacent the buckets and each bucket having a curved surface with an entering boundary edge and a leaving boundary edge for the gas blast leaving the bucket so that the blast sweeps across the curved surface of each bucket. The exit diameter of each nozzle is less than the radius of the curved surface of each bucket to achieve a full sweep of each bucket's curved surface from the entering edge to the leaving edge.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1975Date of Patent: August 24, 1976Assignee: Hollymatic CorporationInventor: James V.
