  • Patent number: 3992978
Abstract: A pressure balanced hydrostatic slip bearing as shown for use in guiding and restraining a test table which is shaken in longitudinal direction to vibrate or shake test objects, and also which may be shaken in vertical direction. The slip bearing controls lateral position of the table during operation. A second slip bearing applies a constant compressive preload force to one side of the table and the other pressure balanced bearing is a constant displacement bearing positioned on an opposite side of the table to react lateral forces which may be imposed on the table during operation.

  • Patent number: 3986578
Abstract: A control device for a steering mechanism of a vehicle includes hydraulic means for laterally pivoting a pair of independently suspended guide wheels in response to rotation of a steering wheel of the vehicle. The hydraulic means includes a pair of double-acting jacks attached to respective guide wheels in such a manner that the extension of each jack pivots a corresponding guide wheel, and a pair of valves mounted on respective jacks for controlling the extension thereof. The valves are controlled by a pair of linkages which are connected to the steering wheel by a coupling mechanism in such a manner that the valves are simultaneously controlled in response to rotation of the steering wheel so that both guide wheels are laterally pivoted in the same angular direction.

  • Patent number: 3981227
Abstract: In a power piston for use in a booster which includes a piston plate coupled with a diaphragm for receiving differential pressure acting thereacross, a valve body one end of which being secured to the center portion of the piston plate and a valve mechanism disposed in the valve body, the improvement resides in that there are provided a head portion and a hole respectively on one end of the valve body and in the center portion of the piston plate which have complementary configurations such that the hole can receive the head portion only when they are at specific angular positions, and there is provided a neck portion continuous with the head portion of the valve body and having an axial length sufficient to receive the piston plate thereon, the inner circumferential portion of the diaphragm is clamped by means of the piston plate and thus secured to the valve body.

  • Patent number: 3977299
Abstract: A servomotor having a front shell with an annular wall in which an annular groove is located adjacent to an open end thereof. A rear shell has a peripheral ledge with radial lugs which are aligned in slots on the annular wall of the front shell. A diaphragm secured to a hub, which can move within the annular wall, has a bead with a contour which matches the annular wall from the annular groove to the slots. The peripheral ledge on the rear shell engages and compresses the bead of the diaphragm against the annular wall and groove of the front shell to separate a front chamber from a rear chamber when tabs on the open end of the annular wall lock the lugs against the slots.

  • Patent number: 3974741
Abstract: A brake booster unit has a housing composed of a front and a rear shell element detachably coupled with each other; a resilient diaphragm is mounted in the interior space of the housing for mechanical separation thereof into a vacuum chamber and a atmospheric pressure chamber; a sleeve member and a motion-transmitting rod concentrically arranged thereto and connected with a brake pedal are partially introduced sealingly and movably into the interior of the atmospheric chamber; first valve means is formed between the rod and the sleeve for "on-off" control of fluid communication between the atmospheric pressure chamber and ambient atmospheric pressure; second valve means includes a beaded inner periphery of the diaphragm and acting as a valve seat; a valving portion to mate with the diaphragm is formed on the sleeve and has a configuration preventing unintentional radial displacement of the beaded periphery while the booster unit is urged toward its operating position; the second valve means is kept at its "cl

  • Patent number: 3973593
Abstract: A two-way valve for a brake booster functions first to interrupt a vacuum connection between two chambers when displaced by an actuating rod and second to permit atmosphere to enter into one of the two chambers to provide the booster action. In such known arrangements there is a disadvantage that the brake actuation requires considerable lost brake pedal travel. According to the present invention this disadvantage is overcome by arranging a valve body coaxial of and axially displaced on the actuating rod and by coupling the actuating rod to the valve body by means of a travel-transmission arrangement which provides for a larger displacement travel of the valve body relative to the travel of the actuating rod.

  • Patent number: 3972263
Abstract: A flow control apparatus for use in a servomotor to control the rate of the flow of air through a hub to a control valve. A push rod has a first section connected to the control valve and a second section through which an operator supplies an operational input signal. A truncated resilient disc holds the first and second sections of the push rod away from each other. A filter surrounds the second section and extends radially to fill the interior of the hub. A series of projections extend rearwardly from the truncated resilient disc along the exterior of the filter. When the operator desires to begin a braking sequence, an input force is applied from the operator through the second section into the truncated resilient disc to the first section to actuate the control valve. With the control valve actuated, air will flow from the atmosphere through the filter into the servomotor.

  • Patent number: 3951043
Abstract: A motor vehicle fluid power circuit is disclosed which includes a constant displacement pump driven by the engine of the vehicle, a control valve, an open center steering valve, a brake booster accumulator, and a closed center brake booster. The entire output of the pump flows through the control valve under all conditions, and the control valve selectively directs the pump output to the steering valve to assist in steering the vehicle or to the brake booster accumulator (which is hydraulically connected to the brake booster) to assist in braking.
