Working Member Overrides Exhaust Port (357) Patents (Class 91/402)
  • Patent number: 4040580
Abstract: The present apparatus controls the position of the brake flap or air brake of an aircraft. The air brake is operated by a power amplifier including a pressure cylinder and a piston. The piston is mechanically coupled to the brake flap or air brake in such a manner that the displacement of the brake flap is about proportional to the brake flap angle. The pressure in the cylinder is controlled in response to or as a function of the brake flap angle so that the flap is positioned at the angle required for the particular braking action, whereby the force caused by the dynamic or impact pressure is maintained in equilibrium with the force exerted by the pressure piston cylinder arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4030655
Abstract: A pneumatic fastener driving tool in which a piston-driver assembly is moved in opposed working and return strokes within a cylinder. Vent passage means of a predetermined area are provided adjacent the lower end of the cylinder to permit greatly increased velocity on the working stroke. Valve means may be provided for the vent passage to enable the use of air under pressure to drive the piston in a return stroke. The cylinder may be defined by an axially movable sleeve, which cooperates with sealing means to provide one or more valving functions.

  • Patent number: 4026192
Abstract: A motor driven by a pressurized fluid medium for operating an impact tool in a linear direction adapted for metal stamping and high velocity milling comprising a housing and a piston unit. The latter comprises a drive piston, a piston rod and a tool. In addition, the motor includes a kinetic energy absorbing device comprising a hydraulic fluid chamber and a retard piston which is rigidly connected to said piston unit and arranged to reciprocate in said fluid chamber. The retard piston retards the piston unit at the end of the strokes only and is freely passed by hydraulic fluid during the working stroke. Cup-shaped means are provided to restrict said by-pass flow of hydraulic fluid at the end of the strokes and thereby protect the motor from excessive stresses during no-load conditions.

  • Patent number: 3990520
Abstract: The lower draft link of a tractor three-point hitch includes a sensor to sense draft loads imposed on the draft link by an earth-working implement. Variations in the draft load cause variations in the pressure of the fluid in the sensor from a preselected pressure. A pilot-operated, load control valve is connected to the sensor and is shiftable in response to pressure above and below the preselected pressure to actuate a control mechanism. The control mechanism actuates a direction control valve for directing fluid to and from a hydraulic lift cylinder for respectively raising and lowering the draft link to adjust the implement so as to maintain the preselected pressure and thus maintain the desired draft load.

  • Patent number: 3990351
Abstract: A pneumatic impact device comprising a housing, a drive piston and a piston rod. At the forward end of the piston rod there is attached a tool intended for metal working like punching, cropping or forging. The housing contains a drive chamber, an air charge chamber, a reverse chamber and a retard chamber. The piston rod is provided with two forward-facing, annular shoulders one of which constitutes a reverse piston for working in the reverse chamber and the other a retard piston for working in the retard chamber. For being protected from impact strains, the drive piston is longitudinally displaceable relative to the piston rod. During the working strokes, the drive piston cooperates with a backwardly facing shoulder on the piston rod, but just before the latter reaches the point where the tool hits the billet to be worked, the drive piston is stopped in the drive chamber and is thereby separated from the piston rod shoulder.

  • Patent number: 3968735
Abstract: The ends of travel of pneumatic jacks are controlled so as to obtain signals which are directly utilizable in fluidics by means of a device comprising a main jack-piston with a hollow operating stem fitted with a plunger and a positionally-adjustable regulating stem, a main cylinder and auxiliary cylinder having control ports for driving fluid and communicating with stationary fluidic control ports, and adjustable fluidic control means actuated in dependence on the position of the regulating stem with respect to a cylindrical slide-valve.
