  • Patent number: 11498161
Abstract: A portable press is usable with parts that are assembled by interference fit or friction fit. A force application member slidably engages a plurality of guides. An actuator, such as a pneumatic or hydraulic jack or cylinder, applies force to the force application member to move the force application member toward a static plate. The force application member acts to either press in, or press out, a first part relative to a second part. The press of the invention is portable, so that the press can be moved to the mechanical structure requiring a press for removal or insertion of parts. The press may be constructed in a vertical or horizontal embodiment.

  • Patent number: 9944375
Abstract: A system for controlling trim position of a marine propulsion device on a marine vessel includes a trim actuator having a first end configured to couple to the marine propulsion device and a second end configured to couple to the marine vessel. A controller controls position of the trim actuator between an extended position wherein the propulsion device is trimmed up with respect to the vessel and a retracted position wherein the propulsion device is trimmed down with respect to the vessel. A shock relief mechanism overrides position control by the controller and allows extension of the trim actuator upon the occurrence of an overpressure event. An arresting mechanism, when activated, prevents extension of the trim actuator beyond a certain limit. The controller selectively activates the arresting mechanism in response to a determination that the propulsion device is being commanded in reverse. Methods for controlling trim position are also included.

  • Patent number: 7137586
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for spooling a flexible member onto a drum with a spooler assembly. In certain embodiments, a spooler assembly comprises a spooler arm operable to guide a flexible member onto a drum rotating about a drum axis. A first actuator moves the spooler arm in a first direction that is parallel to the drum axis. The first actuator operates in a first mode wherein the flexible member is allowed to free movement in the first direction and a second mode wherein the first actuator controls the movement of the flexible member in the first direction. The spooler assembly may also comprise a second actuator that moves the spooler arm in a second direction that is perpendicular to the drum axis.

  • Patent number: 7104058
Abstract: In a vehicle braking system, a backup piston pushes a master piston directly from behind when hydraulic pressure of a boosted hydraulic pressure chamber decreases. The backup piston has a piston body which is slidably fitted in a casing, and a pusher which is slidably fitted in the casing with a seal diameter smaller than seal diameters of the master piston and the piston body and which extends to the front end of the piston body, to push the master piston from behind. An annular input chamber communicated with a hydraulic power source is formed between the backup piston and the casing. When the pusher pushes the master piston forward, amount of volume increased in the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber is set to be substantially equal to amount of volume decreased in the input chamber. Thus, it is possible to avoid increase in the hydraulic pressure of the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber during forward movement of the backup piston, using a simple configuration with a reduced number of parts.

  • Patent number: 7080589
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic cylinder comprising a piston rod bearing at least one tool receiving element. Said hydraulic cylinder is characterized by an automatic disconnection device which is controlled in a hydraulic-mechanical manner, with a medium for the actuation of the hydraulic cylinder. Said medium which is used for building-up force, is also the medium which is used for the automatic disconnection device. Said hydraulic cylinder also comprises a first valve slider and a second valve slider which are used for disconnecting the displacement of a piston, which is connected to a piston rod according to a possible obstruction found in the path of the outward moving piston rod before a desired position by deviating the medium in the region of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6764286
Abstract: A piston pump comprises cylinder attached within a cavity of a pump housing. An outlet check valve seat is defined about an outlet of the cylinder. A piston is slidably received in a bore of the cylinder and has a first passageway formed therein. A cylinder head encloses the outlet of the cylinder and defines a second passageway therein. The first passageway has an inlet in fluid communication with the cavity of the pump housing, and an outlet in fluid communication with a pumping chamber defined in the pump housing. A first spring retains the piston to the cylinder. A first check valve member is a ball retained near a valve seat formed in the first passageway of the piston by a disk spring, and allows fluid to flow only from the inlet to the outlet of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6746220
Abstract: A pressure fluid-delivery device comprising a cylinder, a piston and a reservoir for a fluid. A V-seal is mounted in an annulus between the cylinder and the piston. An axial movement of the piston forwards relative to the cylinder results in a delivery of a pressure fluid from the cylinder space. A first leg, in a similar fashion to a check valve, hereby springingly attempts to seal an outlet opening of a channel, which communicates with the reservoir. When the piston is moved backwards, this leg can open the outlet opening, admitting fluid into the cylinder space. The seal rests on a forwardly facing, radially outwardly extending surface of the piston. The seal's first leg projects slantingly radially inwards and is arranged to come into abutment against an axially extending portion of the piston. The seal's second leg projects slantingly radially outwards and constantly abuts sealingly against the cylinder surface.

  • Patent number: 6722866
Abstract: A pump system for delivering cryogenic liquids is proposed that is suitable, for example, for refueling motor vehicles with H2. It consists of a container for receiving the cryogenic liquid, in which at least one pump is arranged that is designed as a reciprocating pump with connecting rod actuation and spring recover. Pump cylinder (10) of the reciprocating pump is divided by means of plunger (24, 37) into two chambers (a and b) that are arranged on the pressure side or the induction side. By exerting tensile forces on connecting rod (29), in the pressure stroke the cryogenic liquid that is located in the container is initially trapped in chamber (b). When connecting rod (29) is returned to its starting position by return spring (23), the liquid that is trapped in chamber (b) is then hurled without pressure into chamber (a). In the subsequent pressure stroke, the liquid is finally released via a gap (d) to a pressure housing and from there to the consumer by exerting tensile forces on connecting rod (29).

  • Patent number: 6679160
Abstract: An actuator is provided that includes an operating shaft positioned within a chamber for movement between a first position and a second position, and a longitudinal bore for delivering air to an air chuck. A piston is disposed around the operating shaft and is reciprocally mounted in the chamber. When pressurized air is applied to the first side of the chamber, the piston is shifted against a second stop surface at the second side of the chamber allowing pressurized air to flow through the bores in the operating shaft to the air chuck. When pressurized air is applied to the second side of the chamber, the piston moves away from the second stop surface to move the piston to the first position from the second position, while air within the operating shaft is depressurized allowing the air chuck to decouple the operating shaft and chuck from the object being rotated.
