Abstract: A self-calibrating method and system 10 for controlling a hydraulically operated device, such as a clutch actuator 24 in an automatic power transmission, provides a pressure switch 30 in the hydraulic circuit that provides feed-back to the controller 32 when the hydraulic fluid pressure has reached a set point level. Pressure switch 30 provides a signal to controller 32 that allows the controller to compare the control signal at the pressure set point level with that of the calibrated curve for adjusting the calibration curve.
Abstract: A fluid motor for converting reciprocation of a piston within a cylinder to rotation by a crankshaft includes a valve for supplying a fluid to the cylinder and discharging the fluid therefrom. The valve comprises a rotary valve member rotatable with the crankshaft and a fixed valve body slidably in contact with the rotary valve member. When the motor stops, at least one-half portion of a fluid intake groove formed in the rotary valve member is positioned at one side, toward a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotary valve member, of a position opposed to a cylinder connection port formed in the fixed valve body so that a sufficient amount of pressure fluid can be supplied to the cylinder at the start when the motor is initiated into operation again.
Abstract: A toothbrush is provided with bristles to brush and clean the teeth. Since there are cavities between neighboring teeth it is useful to exercise a multidirectional brushing of the teeth and cavities. The handle of the tooth brush is therefor provided with a fluid motor which is driven by fluid, for example by fluid from the water pipe which is available in the living quarters. The fluid motor revolves a rotary member wherein a space with a therein reciprocable piston is provided. The piston rod engages one end of a lever of a transfer arrangement and swings the lever. The other end of the lever then swings the outgoing shaft of the housing. By attaching a tooth brush to the swinging outgoing shaft the brush can do a multi directional movement for better brushing of the teeth and the cavities between the teeth.

Abstract: A neck ring mechanism for transferring a blank or parison from a blank mold section to a blow mold section of an I.S. glass forming machine includes a rock shaft and a pair of spaced cylinders reciprocable in opposition directions on the shaft. The rock shaft is provided with a plurality of longitudinal grooves, and a like plurality of followers are arranged in the grooves so as to contact at least one side wall of each groove. The followers are supported on each cylinder. One or more piston rings are seated in associated annular grooves in the rock shaft so as to preclude air leakage.
Abstract: A sequencing valve utilized with a tractor-propelled planter having two row arms which pivot downward to the ground in an alternating sequence as the planter changes directions in the field. The sequencing valve is connected with the conventional hydraulic system which raises and lowers the planter at the end of each row so as to automatically lower alternate marker arms. This is achieved by pressurizing opposite ends of the sequencing valve spool for longitudinal movement through a cam means, causing the spool to rotate during movement in one direction whereby alternating lowering of the planter arms is achieved each time the planter is hydraulically lowered to the ground.
Abstract: A hydraulic booster for a brake system or the like, of a vehicle includes a throttle valve which produces hydraulic pressure corresponding to the depression force applied to a brake pedal. Relative axial displacement of an operating rod and a power piston produces relative rotation of a power piston. The throttle valve is formed between the power piston and the booster body, and responds to the relative rotation of the power piston.
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder for generating vibrations which comprises: a cylinder body; a hollow piston rotatably mounted in said cylinder body; and a valve rotor rotatably engaged within said hollow piston, said valve rotor having a change-over valve portion adapted to be rotated for applying hydraulic loads to said piston alternately in axially opposite directions.
Abstract: A fail-safe, air actuated actuator mechanism is completely housed within and sealed interiorly of an accumulator tank in which a quantity of fail-safe actuating air is stored, under pressure.
Abstract: An otherwise conventional multi-way booster steering control rotary valve plug is provided with needle bearings at both ends of the grooved valve core, i.e., the rotary valve plug, in order to maintain it exactly centered radially within the coacting grooved valve sleeve i.e., a worm shaft in the present instant. This has been found to obviate heavy friction due to buildup of pressure on one side of the valve plug causing eccentricity within the valve worm shaft, such eccentricity causing these components to contact at the opposite side. The arrangement maintains radial clearance within very small limits to preclude significant oil leakage between the components and permits smooth rotary operation.
Abstract: A drill fluid powered hydraulic system used for driving a shaft connected to a drill bit is disclosed. The apparatus includes a hydraulic fluid powered motor actuated and controlled by hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic fluid is supplied to the hydraulic fluid powered motor through an intermediate drive system actuated by drill fluid. The intermediate drive system is provided with two rotary valves and two double sided accumulators. One of the rotary valves routes the hydraulic fluid to and from the accumulators and respectively from and to the hydraulic fluid powered motor. The other valve routes the drill fluid to the accumulators from the drill fluid supply and from the accumulators to the drill bit. The rotary valves are indexed by a gear system and Geneva drive connected to the motor or drill shaft. A heat exchanger is provided to cool the hydraulic fluid.
Abstract: A hydro mechanical condition-responsive servo control valve for controlling a variable condition, such as position or rate of change of position, of a remote element, comprises a rotary fluid valve controlled by a differential gear train arranged to register differential movement between two input shafts, one of which is connected for movement according to a desired input condition and the other of which is alternatively connected either to register the actual element condition or a reference [datum] condition; the rotary valve including mating stationary and rotary valve plates each incorporating fluid flow ports cooperatively arranged on the mating plate surfaces thereby to control fluid flow from a fluid inlet to a fluid outlet in accordance with the relative position or movement of said two input shafts.
Abstract: A fluid pressure actuated drive for providing for the closing unit of an injection moulding machine a to and fro traversing motion of a movable part of the unit with little force and a clamping of the closed unit with a greater force. The device has at least two double acting piston and cylinder devices which act in parallel and the pistons of which each have at each side a piston rod which passes through a seal in the responsive adjacent cylinder end. The piston rod on one side of at least one piston is thicker than that on its other side and the piston rod on one side, which corresponds to the same working side as one side of the one piston, of the or each other piston is thinner than that on its other side. Traverse in one direction is provided by applying fluid pressure to both sides of the one piston, and in the other direction by providing fluid pressure to both sides of the other piston. Clamping pressure is provided by applying fluid pressure to one side only of each of the pistons.
Abstract: Device for a hydraulically driven percussion hammer for activating a tool, comprising a differential piston with corresponding cylinder, where the piston's largest surface is closest to the percussion tool, and where the smallest working surface is in direct hydraulic connection with an air tank. The largest working surface is above a multiple valve in connection with a hydraulic pressure medium. The valve is adjustable from an admission position with closed return duct to a position where the admission is blocked and the return duct is open. The piston chamber above the piston's small working surface has a feed duct with back pressure valve for a hydraulic pressure medium.
Abstract: Opposed pivotally mounted tamper arms are oscillated by respective single-acting hyraulic piston assemblies controlled by separate hydraulic duplex rotary distributing valves. Fluid supply and return lines for each piston assembly are connected to a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid via the respective rotary valve. Each valve has a stationary ported shell which receives a rotary cylindrical spool having a pair of axially displaced supply and return throughports which alternately register with supply and return line ports in the shell to open and close the connections between the respective piston assembly and the supply and return lines. While the rotary valves are preferably driven by a common drive unit, the relative phase of the oscillations of the arms can be determined by rotationally offsetting one of the spools with respect to the other by the desired phase angle.
