  • Patent number: 5469946
Abstract: The clutch actuation system provides for control of the clutch of a manual transmission in a motor vehicle. By use of hydraulics, a vacuum booster and a gradual pressure relief valve a smooth easy control of the manual transmission is accomplished. The vacuum booster provides an assist to the hydraulic system when the clutch must be disengaged or engaged. The power assist facilitates rapid engagement of the clutch and gears. The gradual pressure relief valve provides for a smooth transition in the hydraulic system to engage and disengage the clutch. The rapid smooth assist is aided by the vacuum system of the motor vehicle. For certain motor vehicles the engine oil system is also used to assist.

  • Patent number: 5323687
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit for a backhoe loader having two double-acting cylinders for the arm and bucket of the loader and respective directional valves for the cylinders. There are heavy demands on the oil pump of the system when the two cylinders are moved simultaneously from one extreme position to another which requires substantially two whole cylinder volumes of oil. • Patent number: 4969349
Abstract: A dual axis actuator consisting of two fluid cylinders having the fluid inputs to the cylinders connected in parallel to a source of pressurized fluid, resulting in an automatic sequencing of cylinder rod drives. The cylinder rod encountering the least resistance to motion extends first until it reaches a stop, followed by the extension of the second cylinder rod. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the source of fluid input to the two fluid cylinders is derived from the fluid port of a third fluid cylinder having its cylinder rod driven by an external power source. By utilizing two port fluid cylinders, the dual axis actuator can be adapted to provide a sequence of drives for powering workpiece transferring units in a multiple workstation transfer press. Such a system provides an automatic sequencing of translations for engaging and lifting workpieces for movement to a subsequent work station, followed by lowering and retracting from workpieces to allow the next stroke of the press.

  • Patent number: 4124131
Abstract: A mechanism for moving a slidable load carrier to and fro along a trailer includes a hydraulic double-acting servomotor having a piston rod which selectively engages with one or other of two sets of oppositely directed lugs, in the form of ratchet teeth, carried by a channel member fixed to the underside of the load carrier. The hydraulic servomotor is pivotally mounted on the trailer. The sets of ratchet teeth engaged are selected, for movement in either a forward direction or backward direction, by adjusting the angle of inclination of the hydraulic servomotor in a vertical plane. The hydraulic servomotor is controlled by a pneumatic servomotor coupled through a horizontally extending operating rod. The pneumatic control servomotor has a diaphragm disposed in a vertical plane in a casing which is provided at the bottom with a drain valve for removing water condensed within the interior.

  • Patent number: 4124038
Abstract: A multiway hydraulic valve comprising a valve housing having a cylindrical bore, a first and second inlet, an outlet, a first series and second series of operation ports all defined in the valve housing. Check means are associated with the first and second inlets and with each operation port of said first and second series of operation ports. A spool member is positioned axially slideable and rotatable within the cylindrical bore having operation means associated therewith adapted to open a selected operation port of one of said series of operation ports allowing it to vent through said outlet while at the same time pressurizing only the operation ports of the other series of operation ports. Sealing means to seal the spool member within the cylindrical bore in a fluid-tight relation and stop means to limit the axial movement of the spool member are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4122759
Abstract: An actuator, and a system employing the same, which will continue to operate after deformation of a portion thereof which deformation would normally restrict movement between the piston and cylinder of the actuator. The piston or gland of the actuator is constructed so as to include segmented flanges which will fracture responsive to forces applied to them upon engagement of the deformation. Slots defining the segments are filled with a rubber-like material which is bonded to the piston or gland thus providing a solid structure to enable appropriate sealing while not interfering with the fracturability of the segments.
