Engine Rotating Or Starting Type Patents (Class 91/53)
  • Patent number: 8439859
Abstract: The catheter device comprises a drive shaft connected to a motor, and a rotor mounted on the drive shaft at the distal end section. The rotor has a frame structure which is formed by a screw-like boundary frame and rotor struts extending radially inwards from the boundary frame. The rotor struts are fastened to the drive shaft by their ends opposite the boundary frame. Between the boundary frame and the drive shaft extends an elastic covering. The frame structure is made of an elastic material such that, after forced compression, the rotor unfolds automatically.

  • Patent number: 4767292
Abstract: A fluid motor having a gerotor gear set includes a first member having internal teeth and a second member having external teeth. The second member is rotatably and orbitally mounted within the first member. The teeth of the first and second members cooperate to define a plurality of variable volume working chambers. Some of said working chambers expand and other of said working chambers contract upon relative rotatable and orbital movement between said first and second members. A plurality of electrically controlled valves are provided, each working chamber having an associated valve. Each valve selectively communicates, in one condition, its associated working chamber with an inlet passage, which is, in turn, connected to a source or pressurized fluid, or, in a second condition, its associated working chamber to an outlet passage, which is, in turn, connected to a reservoir. Each of the valves is responsive to a respective electrical control signal for placing the valve in the first or second condition.

  • Patent number: 4694791
Abstract: A starter for internal combustion engines comprising a driving shaft to be driven by the air motor, a main valve for controlling the flow of compressed air to the air motor, and an air piston to advance the driving shaft to a position for starting the engine. Before feeding compressed air through the main valve to the air motor, a branched stream of compressed air is fed through a sub-valve to the air motor to rotate it at low speed and also to the main valve and the air piston to actuate them.

  • Patent number: 4679533
Abstract: A pneumatic starter arrangement includes a pneumatic actuator having a piston supporting for axial displacement a starter pinion to engage or disengage a flywheel gear of an internal combustion engine. A pressure air source is connected to the actuator via a supply branch conduit including a pilot valve. A starter motor which rotates the starter pinion is connected to the pressure air supply via a main control valve. To insure flawless engagement of the starter pinion with the flywheel gear, a bypass conduit with a relief valve is connected between the supply branch conduit and the starter motor. The main control valve is normally in its closed position and is controlled by a switching conduit leading to a port in the pneumatic actuator so that when the piston of the actuator displaces the starter pinion in its fully engaged position, the main control valve is switched on and the starter motor is activated.
