Abstract: A lever arrangement for providing a servomotor in a power braking system with a variable operational output force. The servomotor has a wall moved by a pressure differential to create an initial output force. The lever arrangement is attached to the servomotor and modifies the initial output force from the wall to create the variable operational output force which is supplied to a master cylinder.
Abstract: A driving assembly for moving one unit with respect to another, for instance, a working unit with respect to a frame unit. Preferred practical applications for the driving assembly are lifting platforms or presses. The driving assembly includes a flat, enclosed, flexible container or bladder disposed between the two units. End wall portions of the container comprise the major surface area thereof. When pressure is introduced into the container, the walls thereof bear entirely against opposed bearing portions of the respective units and against a limiting wall. The invention allows for use of a very thin walled container for lifting large loads.
Abstract: A piston pump assembly is disclosed in which the rotation of the drive shaft of the driving motor reciprocates the piston via a single-row spherical ball bearing which is eccentrically arranged in relation to the drive shaft. The piston is turned about its linear path of movement in synchronism with its reciprocation.
Abstract: A stacker crane storage arrangement wherein a tray is supported for reversible extension transversely of a tower which is movable on a track, so as to deposit cargo laden pallets in cells or cubicles of open sides storage grids on both sides of the track. The tray of the tower is movable by a compact mechanism, utilizing telescopically and reversibly extending drive members carried by pairs of cantilever beams and driven by sprocket chains and hydraulic cylinders in a dual system which effects reversible motion of a tray to either side of the tower. The telescopic tray mechanism provides for moving a cargo laden tray to either a part distance or a full distance transversely of the tower, so that pallets can be stored in or retrieved from double depth storage grids. The specific racks or cells can hold two pallets in tandem, there being a first pallet position and a second pallet position in each cell. The arrangement and construction has features whereby very tall towers are usable.
Abstract: A calendar stack is provided with pneumatic actuators of the expansible bag or bellows type wherein a selected roll has the end bearings thereof carried by a pair of pivoted control arms, the position of a respective control arm being selectively controlled, for upward loading or for downward loading of the stack by a single primary actuator. The selected direction of force application by the primary actuator is determined by a force transmission linkage shiftable by a secondary actuator between a first and a second position, for roll upward loading or roll downward loading.

Abstract: A brake cylinder for vehicles employes a spring plate as a transmission linkage between a piston and a piston rod coaxial with the piston. The spring plate is supported against a portion bearing against the piston rod. The inner end of the spring plate is acted upon by the piston.
Abstract: A hydraulic drive for operating an elevator and disposed inside the elevator shaft on one side of the load-lifting member of the elevator comprises a hydraulic ram cylinder having two straight cylinder portions connected by a portion forming an arcuate bend. One straight cylinder portion extends up the path of ascent of the load-lifting member of the elevator, whereas the other straight cylinder portion slidably contains a hydraulic ram piston attached to one end of a universally flexible thrust-transmitting strand. The other end of the flexible strand is attached to a cylindrical body arranged to slide up and down said one straight cylinder portion and is provided with a carrier arm projecting to the outside through an axial slot in said one straight cylinder portion for supporting the load-lifting member of the elevator.
Abstract: An actuator has force amplifying means coupled between piston and piston rod. The force amplifying means may be a mechanical linkage, a system of screw threads, or a hydraulic arrangement utilizing differential piston areas and may lock the piston rod at one or both stroke extremities. The mechanical advantage of the force amplifying means may vary during the stroke.
Abstract: An automatic irrigation controller apparatus having a cam follower operated bank of pilot valves for operating selected pilot operated water valves throughout a watering or irrigation system is provided with a water powered means for receiving water under pressure from a source thereof and a member driven in a predetermined manner by the force of such water for driving a cam means to operate said cam followers via power transmission means between the water driven member and a cam shaft mounting said cam. A water piston is mounted in a cylinder with associated water valve means for selectively connecting the cylinder to a source of water under pressure and to a vent to provide a reciprocal movement for the piston, a return stroke for the piston being accomplished through the provision of a spring. A reciprocal piston movement is translated through a power transmission means including a drive ratchet wheel connected to the piston and a driven ratchet wheel connected to the cam shaft.
