Sealed Opening In Longitudinal Wall Of Chamber For Receiving Working Member Portion Patents (Class 92/88)
  • Patent number: 5692428
Abstract: A rodless pneumatic cylinder includes main exhaust ports defined by the open ends of a pair of fixed tubular members that extend, respectively, into the cylinder body from its opposed ends. The main piston of the rodless cylinder has an axial bore formed in it in which is slidably mounted a small piston that serves mutually to isolate the working chambers of the cylinder. The bore carries seals adjacent to its opposed ends whereby, during motion of the piston, the bore sealingly receives one or other of the tubular members at a predetermined stage during the motion thereby effectively closing the main exhaust port. During further motion of the piston, air can, therefore, exhaust only through a throttled auxiliary exhaust port and such further motion of the piston is thus cushioned. The arrangement provides for a greater extent of cushioning relative to known arrangements in which the working chambers are mutually isolated by a barrier fixedly secured in the bore.

Abstract: In a hydraulic rodless cylinder type actuator, a piston is movable back and forth in a hydraulic cylinder. Housing elements are respectively mounted on the opposite ends of the cylinder. Parallel output shafts are respectively accommodated in the housing elements and protrude therefrom in a fluid-tight condition. The linear movement of the piston is translated into the rotation of the output shafts by flexible inner power transmission elements. Flexible outer power transmission elements are provided on the protruding ends of the output shafts in order to deliver a high output from a high-pressure chamber defined in the cylinder to the outside of the cylinder.

Both ends of the brake plate are connected to a first and second head covers, respectively, which are provided at both ends of the cylinder tube. A first and second brake shoes are disposed to sandwich the brake plate therebetween. The first brake shoe is subjected to brake spring force. A passage for supplying a pressure fluid is communicated with the other side of the sliding table. Thus, the brake is actuated by allowing the brake spring force, together with a fluid pressure if necessary, to act on the first brake shoe, and the brake is released by the action of a fluid pressure.

The slide table and the piston are united with each other due to a coupling part which projects through a slit formed in a longitudinal direction of the cylinder body. The slide table includes first and second load transmitters, whereas the cylinder body includes first and second load receivers corresponding to the first and second load transmitters. When a lateral load is applied to the slide table, the load is transmitted via one of the first and second load transmitters to a corresponding one of the first and second load receivers so as to transmit the force in a direction in which the slit of the cylinder body can be widened.

  • Patent number: 5267478
Abstract: A device for the rapid precision positioning of a heavy carriage employs stationary positioning bar, for instance a part of a linear electric motor or a gear rack, and a cooperating moving part of the linear motor or a motor attached to the carriage. The carriage is rapidly and roughly displaced with a further drive which may be constituted by a further gear wheel that cooperates with a gear rack and is driven by a separate motor attached to the carriage. This further drive additionally delivers a certain force for the final positioning in such a way that the play between the gear wheel and the gear rack is eliminated by biasing. Instead of a second gear wheel together with its motor a toothed belt, also driven by a separate motor, a pneumatic cylinder or a linear motor may be used. These are mounted separately from the carriage and ar principally fixed in space.

Abstract: A guide carriage is guided on a rail track. At the two ends of the rail track, cross-members are mounted. Between the cross-members there extends a drive device. A drive element of the drive device is drivingly connected with the guide carriage. The resultant driving force of the drive device lies outside the longitudinal axis of the rail track. For achieving better acceptance of tilting moments, the guide carriage is guided on the rail track by ball circuits. The rows of supporting balls of the ball circuits bear against rolling tracks, which are formed symmetrically on either side of the longitudinally central plane of the rail track on this track. The force transmission planes of the supporting rows of balls diverge towards the longitudinal plane of symmetry and each make an angle with this plane of approximately 45.degree..
