Abstract: A filter has a filter element that removes oil from an oil-containing air stream that is supplied to the filter from a gear transmission of a machine tool or of a compressor. The air-containing air stream upon passing through the filter is separated into a clean air stream and into an oil stream. A return line is provided that returns the oil stream to the gear transmission.

Abstract: A two-stage oil separator for crankcase ventilation includes a housing having a lower end and an upper end. The lower end communicates with the crankcase and the upper end communicates with an exhaust system. The housing defines an internal flow channel extending generally upwards from the lower end toward the upper end. A first-stage filter element is disposed proximate the lower end and includes a first filter media of relatively coarser porosity. A second-stage filter element is disposed proximate the upper end and vertically upward of the first-stage filter element. The second-stage filter element includes a second filter media of relatively finer porosity than the first filter media.

  • Patent number: 8337597
Abstract: A moisture diversion system for a gas turbine inlet. The moisture diversion system comprises a housing that is operably connected with a gas turbine and defines an opening through which air flows to the gas turbine. A hood is attached to the housing adjacent the opening. The hood has a surface disposed at an acute angle relative to horizontal. A device is disposed relative to the hood to separate moisture from air flowing through the device. Separated moisture is directed onto the hood. A gutter is disposed adjacent an edge of the hood to collect moisture from the hood. A conduit is fluidly connected with the gutter to conduct water away from the gutter and the opening in the housing to inhibit separated moisture from re-entering the air flow through the opening to the gas turbine.

  • Patent number: 8323384
Abstract: An extended life filter element is provided that may at least double the service interval of a given filtration application utilizing the same or similar filter housing envelope provided. The filter element may include a more open pleated substrate with an efficiency layer and a prefilter on the upstream surface. The filter may be a foam sleeve. One exemplary application is for air filtration of air flow to electrical cabinets on locomotives.

  • Patent number: RE44536
Abstract: A filter includes at least two different adsorptive media. First, chemisorptive media, which is porous and includes an acidic functional group, is used to remove molecular bases, including ammonia, organic amines, imides and aminoalchols, from the atmosphere used in semiconductor fabrication and other processes that require uncontaminated gaseous environments of high quality. Second, physisorptive media is able to adsorb condensable contaminants, particularly those having a boiling point greater than 150 degrees C. The physisorptive media can include untreated, activated carbon.
