Abstract: The present invention provides a method and process for effectively purging desiccant air dryer systems from moisture load, by a ‘deep cooling’ regeneration means with the use of a primary high heating and a secondary low heating blower purge air flows, a heater discharge temperature set point, and a bottom area bed temperature of a vessel containing desiccant. The system of an improved heat regenerating desiccant compressed air dryer having means to terminate heating operations as well as cooling and dry purge operations allowing for the newly regenerated tower vessel to come back on-line for a compressed air drying cycle without negative effects of dew point bumps and outlet heat spike. Such dryer system delivers a high confidence of dried compressed air while saving energy, unnecessary cycling of heater and contactors and time.

Abstract: A combustible gas enrichment system includes an adsorption unit charged therein with an adsorbent for selectively adsorbing a combustible gas, a source gas feeding means capable of feeding source gas containing the combustible gas into the adsorption unit from the outside, a suctioning means capable of suctioning the gas from the inside of the adsorption unit and a controlling means for executing an adsorption process for feeding the source gas into the adsorption unit for adsorption of the combustible gas to the adsorbent and a desorption process for desorbing the combustible gas from the adsorbent under the suction force of the suctioning means after the adsorption process and taking the desorbed combustible gas to the outside. The controlling means operates the suctioning means such that the suction force of the suctioning means when no desorption process is effected is smaller than the suction force when the desorption process is effected.

Abstract: A vehicular atmosphere purifying apparatus diagnoses deterioration in the performance of an ozone purifier. In a routine, when it is determined that there is a deterioration diagnosis request, the amount of moisture that has already accumulated at ozone purification sites of activated charcoal at the time of the request is calculated. If the accumulated moisture amount is equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, it is determined whether the state is such that calculation of a desorbed moisture amount is possible. If it is determined that calculation of the desorbed moisture amount is possible, the desorbed moisture amount is calculated, and the calculated desorbed moisture amount and a deterioration determination value are compared. If the desorbed moisture amount is less than the deterioration determination value, it is determined that the activated charcoal has deteriorated, and an MIL is lit.

  • Patent number: 8926739
Abstract: This invention relates to a portable odor scrubber system that is inserted into a sewer manhole or lift station where vaporous odors are prone to escape into the external environment. The invention controls such odors which may be caused by hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, mercaptan and other vapors which smell bad and can pose a severe health hazard. The invention has an automatic gas sensor trigger mechanism to control a fan to pull the noxious fumes through a series of scrubbers and to discharge treated air into the environment. Scrubber units may be easily replaced as well as designated to treat different environmental conditions. The invention can also store and transmit gas data information to an offsite location to monitor conditions where the portable odor scrubber system is located.

Abstract: Lightweight, portable oxygen concentrators that operate using an ultra rapid, sub one second, adsorption cycle based on advanced molecular sieve materials are disclosed. The amount of sieve material utilized is a fraction of that used in conventional portable devices. This dramatically reduces the volume, weight, and cost of the device. Innovations in valve configuration, moisture control, case and battery design, and replaceable sieve module are described. Patients with breathing disorders and others requiring medical oxygen are provided with a long lasting, low cost alternative to existing portable oxygen supply devices.

Abstract: A smoke evacuator that draws smoke generated during a medical surgical procedure away from the site at which the smoke is generated. The smoke evacuator includes a pump that draws air into a filter. A sensor internal to the filter monitors the smoke in the air stream drawn through the filter. Normally the pump runs at a low speed, a speed sufficient to draw some air in the filter. When the sensor detects the presence of an appreciable amount of smoke in the air stream the sensor sends a signal indicating the air stream is in this state to the pump controller. The controller then increases the pump speed to result in a like increase in the volume of air drawn through the smoke evacuator. Since the sensor is contained in the filter, a new sensor is installed in the system each time a new filter is installed.

Abstract: A desulfurization system is disclosed that facilitates in situ or ex situ regeneration of hydrocarbon desulfurization beds. The desulfurization system can use a bed characterization limit, a predetermined sulfur threshold or other metric to determine when the hydrocarbon desulfurization bed should be regenerated. The desulfurization system can include heat and air intakes and an air/sulfur purge outlet to allow for the removal of sulfur from the hydrocarbon desulfurization bed. Alternatively, the regeneration of hydrocarbon desulfurization bed may be performed in situ by a service technician by using a prebuilt appliance that is connected to the inlet and outlets of the desulfurization appliance. The prebuilt appliance heats and purges hydrocarbon desulfurization bed, in substantially the same manner as described just above, and captures the sulfur outside of the desulfurization system.

Abstract: A method of removing mercury from a process gas by means of a sorbent and a filter (10) involves applying said sorbent to at least one filtering surface (12) of the filter (10). A first parameter, which is indicative of the amount of mercury that needs to be removed in said filter (10), and a second parameter, which is indicative of the amount of material that has been collected on said filtering surface (12), are measured. A measured value of said first parameter is compared to a mercury set point. When said measured value of said first parameter is higher than said mercury set point, the cleaning of said filtering surface (12) is delayed, compared to the point in time suggested by a measured value of said second parameter.
