  • Publication number: 20150059582
Abstract: A cascade-type device for intercepting and filtering oil fumes comprises an exhausting space formed between a housing and a filter and a cascading space formed between the filter and an external plate. A wind entrance communicated with the cascading space is formed between a lower portion of the external plate and the housing. The housing accommodates rinsing liquid whose height is higher than a bottom edge of the external plate. A negative pressure formed in the exhausting and the cascading space while drawing air allows the rinsing liquid blown by a wind pressure to hit the filter and generate water bloom for combining oil molecules of oil fumes. When the oil fumes further pass the filter, the oil molecules are adhered to the filter again and then scoured off by the water bloom, thereby attaining a dual-filtering effect and an automatic cleanliness of the filter and the housing.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for separating droplets of finely aerosolized elemental mercury from a fluid stream in which the droplets are dispersed, particularly a gaseous stream. In the method, a precious metal wire capillary surface or precious metal-coated wire capillary surface is contacted with the gaseous stream, causing the aerosolized droplets to deposit on the capillary surface and by capillary action to coalesce with other of such droplets. The surface is oriented to allow the mercury to flow by gravitational forces and capillary action to the lowermost portions of the surface, where it accumulates and can be collected. Metallic capillary surfaces comprised of finely braided strands of silver, gold, palladium, platinum, or rhodium wire, or wire coated with one or more of these metals, are particularly preferred.

Abstract: An air filtration system is described for removing oil and grease entrained in air extracted from the region above a cooker. The system comprises a first mesh screen filter leading to a first chamber, in which two nozzles 10 create two separate continuous water curtains 15a, 15b which overlap when viewed in the direction of the air flow to form a combined curtain extending across the region through which the air passes. The extracted air then passes via a second mesh screen filter 11 into a second chamber 12, identical to the first chamber 9, in which two further nozzles 13 are provided which create two further water curtains 15c, 15d. The water curtains 15a, 15b, 15c, 15d cool and condense vaporized oil and grease within the air, which condensed oil and grease droplets fall with the water into a container. The main bore of each nozzle is of circular cross-section, but a profiled plate causes the resulting water curtain to have a width which is narrow relative to the diameter of the nozzle bore.

Abstract: An ultrasonic solution separator including an ultrasonic atomization chamber supplied with a solution containing a target material; an ultrasonic oscillator producing mist from the solution in the ultrasonic atomization chamber with ultrasonic oscillation; a power supply for ultrasonics connected to the ultrasonic oscillator, and a collection portion transporting the mist produced by the ultrasonic oscillator with a carrier gas and aggregating and collecting the mist included in the carrier gas. The power supply supplying high-frequency power to the ultrasonic oscillator so that the ultrasonic oscillator oscillates at an ultrasonic frequency. The ultrasonic separator aggregates and collects the mist produced in the ultrasonic atomization chamber by means of the collection portion. With this ultrasonic solution separator, the temperature of carrier gas in the ultrasonic atomization chamber is at least 5° C. higher than the carrier gas in the collection portion.

  • Patent number: 7115155
Abstract: An air filtration and aromatizer apparatus which includes a housing, a motor in the housing with a fan for drawing air through an inlet toward an outlet through a pollution-collecting chamber, and an elongated hollow tubular perforated member having an upper end connected to the motor output shaft and a lower end disposed in a bath of water. The hollow tubular member is formed in such a manner that as it is rotated by the motor, it draws water from the container under the influence of centrifugal force, and then forces the water through the perforations to form a mist or rain-like atmosphere in the path of motion of the air passing from the housing inlet toward the housing outlet.

  • Patent number: 7014682
Abstract: An apparatus and process for removing regulated pollutants and other contaminants from a flowing gas stream between a scrubber and an exhaust stack. The apparatus comprises a vessel having a heater chamber, an adsorbent chamber and a filter chamber. The vessel inlet receives the gas stream from the scrubber and the vessel outlet discharges clean gas to the exhaust stack. A heater in the heater chamber heats the incoming gas stream to lower the relative humidity. The gas stream then passes through granular adsorbent material located in the adsorbent chamber to remove contaminants remaining after the wet scrubber. From the adsorbent chamber the gas stream flows into the filter chamber where filters remove entrained particulate matter prior to discharge to the exhaust stack. The process of the present invention includes the above-described steps.

  • Patent number: 6964699
Abstract: A wet scrubber having a series of chambers for capturing and cooling exhaust gases generated during static test firing of rocket motors. Exhaust gas enters an inlet to a first chamber and is cooled and slowed by a spray solution. HCL gas is condensed and absorbed by the spray solution and precipitates to a liquid slurry at the bottom of the device. The remaining exhaust products enter a demister chamber where nozzles continue to spray the gasses as they pass upward and through a mesh-style demister at the top of the vessel. The demister filters liquid and solid waste particles from the gas stream, and the clean, dry gases are accelerated through a centrifugal fan into the atmosphere. A deflector is positioned within the inlet to the first chamber for containing parts in the event of a motor mal-function.

  • Patent number: 6863716
Abstract: An air purification system which is well-suited to removing particles from outside air as the air flows into a cleanroom used in the fabrication of semiconductor integrated circuits. A housing provides at least one spray nozzle for spraying fine mist water droplets. In use, the water droplets capture the airborne particles in the air flowing through the housing and adhere to the water droplet target. The water droplets coalesce and form larger droplets which adhere to the surface of the water droplet target and ultimately collect in a drain pan. The low-density water droplet target prevents large pressure differentials from forming in the housing, which pressure differentials may otherwise cause re-vaporization of the water droplets from the target and re-flow of the particles in the flowing air.

Abstract: An air filtering apparatus for purifying air. The air filtering apparatus includes an enclosure for coupling to ducting of a ventilation system. The enclosure has an interior defined by a top wall, a bottom wall, a pair of side walls, a first end wall, and a second end wall. A plurality of filters comprises a pair of wet filters and a pair of dry filters positioned in the interior. A pair of pump members supplies water from an enclosure reservoir to each of the wet filters. A supply assembly supplies water to the enclosure reservoir. A drain assembly drains the enclosure reservoir at preset intervals. A fan member forces exterior air through each of the filter members and outwardly through a duct aperture in the first end wall. A control assembly controls each of the pump members and the drain assembly to coordinate a purge sequence of the enclosure reservoir.
