Pressure-vacuum Or Reflex Type Patents (Class 99/292)
  • Patent number: 4841849
Abstract: An electric siphon coffee maker including a lower container for containing water and an upper container for containing coffee powder is disclosed. The upper container is placed over the lower container so that a water feed tube of the upper container is inserted into the lower container. Heat is applied by a heater to the lower container containing water and the hot water is transferred from the lower container to the upper container by aerial pressure in the lower container. A temperature sensor senses the temperature of a portion of the device, which temperature is increased in accordance with the increase of the temperature of the water contained in the lower container in the case where heat is applied to the lower container. A heater input power control circuit acts to reduce the heater input power in accordance with the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 4721034
Abstract: A siphon coffee maker consists of a lower container into which water is poured and which is heated with an electric heater, an upper container for containing coffee powder, the upper container communicating with the lower container so that hot water is transferred between the containers through a water feed tube due to siphon effects, and a pressure reducing valve which communicates the lower container with the atmosphere. The pressure reducing valve is opened for approximately 60 seconds for a soak-like processing when the temperature of the water reaches approximately 100.degree. C. Alternately, a pressure reducing valve is kept opened from the time when the temperature of the lower container reaches approximately 105.degree. C. to the time when the ingredients extracting operation is completed.

  • Patent number: 4484514
Abstract: A brewing device for either coffee or tea have a water pot bottomed with a base accomodating a heating element and a temperature-sensitive switch connected electrically therewith, by which applying heat to the water pot when being energized and cutting off the source of power at predetermined temperature, and a receiver for coffee grinds or tea to be brewed being disposed by the side of the pot. A U-shaped tube provided between the pot and the receiver having a first leg extended through an first aperture provided in the first lid and a second leg extended through a second aperture provided in the second lid, the former is gas tight sealed with the wall defining the first aperture but on the contrary, there is sufficient opening left between the receiver and the wall defining the second aperture.

  • Patent number: 4386109
Abstract: An expresso coffee maker for use in a microwave oven. The water is stored in a microwave transparent reservoir or container which is adjacent to the pot. The pot and reservoir are coupled in a fixed spacial relationship by a collar. The collar includes a strainer which presses against a layer of coffee grounds when the collar is rigidly secured to the reservoir. The compressed coffee grounds in combination with the strainer form a pressure resistant seal over the opening of the reservoir. The water in the reservoir is heated by microwave energy. The pressure rises to a level sufficient to force steam and water through the coffee grounds into the pot.
