Abstract: System for gas treatment of cellular implants. The system enhances the viability and function of cellular implants, particularly those with high cellular density, for use in human or veterinary medicine. The system utilizes a miniaturized electrochemical gas generator subsystem that continuously supplies oxygen and/or hydrogen to cells within an implantable and immunoisolated cell containment subsystem to facilitate cell viability and function at high cellular density while minimizing overall implant size. The cell containment subsystem is equipped with features to allow gas delivery through porous tubing or gas-only permeable internal gas compartments within the implantable cell containment subsystem. Furthermore, the gas generator subsystem includes components that allow access to water for electrolysis while implanted, thereby promoting long-term implantability of the gas generator subsystem.

Abstract: A portable grill with a battery power system includes a primary direct-current power source and a secondary direct-current power source. The primary power source can connect onto the outside of the grill via a clip. The secondary power source, which can be disposed within the grill so as not to be exposed to outside elements, can continue to power the grill when the user removes and/or replaces the primary power source during the operation of the grill. A user feedback system can remotely alert the user with information regarding the time or power remaining in the primary power source.

Abstract: An infrared source is arranged relative to support for bread product and operates to direct IR energy to the bread product. A light source is arranged relative to the support and operates to illuminate the bread product and a camera operates to capture images of the bread product. A processor receives the images from the camera. The processor compares successive images received from the camera. Based upon the comparison, the processor operates the IR source to achieve a predetermined toasting level of the bread product.

Abstract: A method is provided of using a cooking appliance having a first heating assembly having a first cooking surface, a second heating assembly having a second cooking surface, and a guide post. The method includes causing the guide post to be placed into a receiving aperture. The method further includes translating the first heating assembly from a first operative position to a second operative position, wherein the placement of the guide post into the receiving aperture causes the first heating assembly to translate in a substantially linear manner and to be maintained substantially parallel to the second heating assembly during translation of the first heating assembly from the first operative position to the second operative position. The method also includes removing the guide post from the receiving aperture and causing the guide post to be placed in a resting aperture.

The first and second heating units remain parallel with one another while the second heating unit moves from the first position to the second position.

Abstract: There is provided a toaster grill having a lower housing that supports a lower cooking surface and an upper housing that supports an upper cooking surface. The upper housing pivots with respect to a “U” shaped frame that is hinged with respect to the lower cooking surface. A locking hinge allows the pivoting motion of the frame to be automatically arrested in an intermediate orientation between the fully closed and fully open grill orientations. The locking hinge automatically resets when the upper housing is rotated from the fully open grill orientation to the fully closed orientation.

Abstract: A charbroiler having both heated grids and at least one radiant heater and a method of charbroiling a food product are disclosed. Each heat source of the charbroiler may be an independently regulated heat source. The independently regulated heat sources may be adjusted to each contribute to the overall cooking of a food product in a cooking cycle. Each of the independently regulated heat sources may be any heat source capable of being regulated either manually or automatically by a cooking control system.
