Patent number: 6402365Abstract: A blender for home food preparation is improved by the incorporation of electronic motor control circuitry responsive to a microcontroller. The microcontroller includes memory for storage of data and programmed instructions. The programmed instructions permit a user to select from a plurality of blending speeds and define a pre-determined end time. Use of a pre-determined end time produces a two-speed blending cycle. The programmed instructions determine the length and energy level associated with each portion of the two-speed blending cycle. A user can stop the blending cycle at any time, with or without a pre-determined end time. Safety features include a pre-determined maximum motor run time, top jar load detector and auto shut down after a period of inactivity. The pre-determined end time from a previous blending cycle is stored in memory, allowing the microcontroller to reproduce the duration of the previous blending cycle.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Kayue Electric Company LimitedInventor: Wai Hung Wong

The base is arranged to couple with the bowl such that the bowl is held from moving in vertical translation by lugs fixed on the base co-operating with corresponding parts of the bowl. The bowl and base are formed with a cooperating abutment and abutment surface, respectively, which are alignable to abut and prevent the bowl from rotating relative the base.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1994Date of Patent: October 3, 1995Assignee: Robot-Coupe SNCInventor: Patrick Gonneaud

Patent number: 5417152Abstract: Controls for the electric motors of juice extractors and other devices. The control keeps the motor at a constant speed under changing loads, and the control may allow the operator to select one of multiple operating speeds. Typically, the control will also include a safety switch which keeps the motor from being energized unless conditions consonant with safe operation of the device powered by the motor have been met.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1993Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Inventor: Robert G. Patent number: 5392699Abstract: This invention is directed to a vegetable and fruit juice processor having safety features. The processor has a housing mounted on the base, a motor mounted in the housing and provided with a transmission shaft extending through the top of the housing. In addition there is a switching set for controlling the operation of the motor, a driving body fastened to a top end of the transmission shaft, a rotary cutting body having a covering portion and a support portion, a toothed cutter mounted on the covering portion, a filtration screen surrounding the support portion, and a cap. The processor has a cover body with a receiving space having a first receiving slot and a second receiving slot, the first receiving slot being provided at the bottom thereof with a slope of a predetermined angle of inclination; and a channel disposed in an outer wall of the receiving space such that the channel is in communication with a front edge of the first receiving slot.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1994Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Inventor: Chun-Ya L. Patent number: 5355784Abstract: Apparatus for extracting juice from produce such as fruits and vegetables. The extractor has a base which includes a housing and a motor with a vertically aligned drive shaft. A blade basket detachably mounted on and driven by the output shaft separates produce into pulp and juice, and a juice bowl surrounding the blade basket collects the juice. The juice bowl is mounted on the base of the apparatus such that rotation of the bowl in a first direction relative to the base locks the bowl to the base. Rotation of the juice bowl in the opposite direction out of the locked position lifts the bowl away from the base and uncouples the blade basket from the drive shaft. An interlock system keeps the motor from being turned on until the juice bowl is locked to the base and a cover is locked onto the juice bowl. Performance is enhanced by, inter alia: anti-splashing provisions and vibration absorbing components which isolate the motor and the motor driven components of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1991Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Trillium Health Products, Inc.Inventors: Eric Franklin, Brent Markee, Harold Kawaguchi, Bong-Sool Kim, Robert G. Patent number: 5353697Abstract: In an electrical appliance for treating food products, the safety device which prevents access of the user's fingers to the tool mounted in the bowl when the motor is operating, is actuated by a rotating cam which, via a rod and ring, acts on the lid of the bowl. It is the lowering of this bowl which effects actuation of the angular immobilizing mechanism connected to the shaft of the motor and/or to the shaft of the tool, as well as control of the contactor connected to the circuit which supplies the motor.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1993Date of Patent: October 11, 1994Assignee: Santos S.A.Inventors: Gerard Venturati, Pierre Selves, Christian Burgel, Jacques Fouquet, Michael Bertrand, deceased

Patent number: 5054385Abstract: The improved milk pasteurizing control apparatus is of the type having a flow diversion valve controller in an enclosure with a door, panel or the like required to be sealed on the outside of the enclosure by a regulatory official. Such seal is applied only after the official is satisfied that the controller and its control routine is operating properly. The improvement includes a controller with a computer chip for executing a control routine programmed in the chip. A barrier, overlay or other obstructing technique within the enclosure "blocks" access to the chip program and prevents alteration of the routine. If the exterior seal is broken (to perform certain types of maintenance, for example), the door may be re-sealed by the official without again testing the entire control routine.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1991Date of Patent: October 8, 1991Assignee: Custom Control Products, Inc.Inventors: Fredrick S.
