Abstract: A tandem bicycle is disclosed which comprises a frame in part, like that of a tandem bicycle with the rear like that of an adult tricycle particularly adapted to allow two people to propel the vehicle while offering the riders stability so that both occupants experience the physical benefits of propelling the vehicle. Upon an elongated frame, like that of a tandem bicycle, there are two seats, each one mounted behind a pair of handle members, one behind the other. There are also two pairs of pedals in position to be engaged by each rider. In the present invention, the mechanisms associated with the second or rear seat are operable and influence the propulsion and stopping of the vehicle, except for the rear handle members which may not be moved and do not influence steering.
Abstract: A child's tricycle comprising a pair of rear wheels, a front wheel, a seat positioned between the front and rear wheels, a support for the seat extending between the front and rear wheels, a handle for steering, and a steering fork having an upper end for supporting the handle and a bifurcated lower end for supporting the front wheel. A one-piece crank extends through the front wheel and defines outer ends disposed on opposite sides of the front wheel for holding pedals whereby a child can propel the tricycle by applying foot pressure to the pedals to thereby turn the crank and associated front wheel. A driving connection between the crank and front wheel is provided by a centrally located bend in the crank, and a centrally located opening defined by the front wheel snugly receiving the bend. A head tube is eliminated by using a steering fork and steering wheel telescoping combination which extends through vertically-aligned openings in the tubular support extending longitudinally of the tricycle.

Abstract: A velocipede comprising a rigid frame with front and rear wheels and a crank operably connected to the rear wheels. A first member has its front end portion pivotably connected to the frame front end such that the first member is movable between upper and lower positions above and below a horizontal line passing through the pivot. A second member has a first end pivotably connected to the first member rear end portion and a second end pivotably connected to the crank such that reciprocating movement of the first member rear end portion causes the second member to rotate the crank. A third member includes a pivot disposed at its intermediate portion and has its front and rear ends movable between upper and lower positions. A pair of pedals are pivotably secured to the third member front end and movable therewith between the upper and lower positions.
