Abstract: An electronic device comprises a first interface operable to receive from a user a selection of a first data set and a processor coupled to the first interface. The processor is operable to access the selected first data set, determine if the user is authorized to receive the first data set, and store the first data set on a memory device.
Abstract: A method and apparatus to control the selective opening of one of a multiple of door accessible newspaper vending cabinets (6a-6e) through a single vend control mechanism (7). The method provides for signaling a selected door from a multiple of doors (18a-18e) to unlock when the proper total denomination of coins or monetary credits has been inserted into the vend control mechanism (7). The apparatus provides for an electronic coin totalizer (14) and/or a bill acceptor (16), and/or a debit/credit card acceptor (17), and a central processing unit (CPU) (10) to receive and process signals relating to total monies received into the vend control mechanism (7) and to selectively unlock one of a multiple of door-accessible cabinets (6a-6e), the cabinets containing different newspapers.
Abstract: A vending device for newspapers or other articles comprising a box like receptacle which can be pole or pedestal mounted. The device includes a one piece paper display member, an access door biasing means which is hidden from exposure to the weather, a door latch device which maintains the access door in an open position, a releasable lock device for locking a coin operating mechanism and coin box in the vending device and an access door locking unit for locking the access door to the coin operating mechanism.

Abstract: A display container for publications comprises a housing, a door swingably mounted to the housing, and a spring for biasing the door closed. The door comprises a sheet of transparent flexible material anchored along an inner edge thereof to the housing so as to be flexibly swingable in cantilever fashion. The spring comprises a coil spring having outer and inner ends connected to an interiorly facing surface of the door so that movement of the door to an open condition elastically deforms the spring to bias the door closed. The spring bears against the door to be capable of holding a display publication which is inserted between the spring and the door.
Abstract: An improved display stand is disclosed which holds periodicals such as newspapers and magazines. The periodicals are placed on a bottom plate which is inside a U-shaped hood supported by a support which is inclined. A hinged lid is provided which can be easily opened and closed. The lid is kept shut by gravity. In addition, the angle at which the support is inclined prevents the periodicals from falling out of the display stand. The display stand is economical to construct and easy to fabricate because it is comprised of a minimum number of parts.
